“Among the very best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

The is truly one of the best places we stayed during our two week tour of western Ireland. The hosts, Tom and Nuala Duddy, were very pleasant, gracious and helpful. The house is gorgeous - with fine collections of Beleek pottery, silver and antiques. Nuala even allowed us to use her laundry, a much needed activity! Breakfasts were outstanding - with enough salmon to make me a happy camper. A side trip to the northern most point in Ireland. Malin Head, afforded us a lovely drive through Glenveagh National Park.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a downstairs room!

To an American, the name seemed odd - what was Pennsylvania House doing in Donegal, Ireland? Nuala has a fascinating story of how their B&B came to be called Pennsylvania House. She welcomed three tired visitors, served them tea and warmed them by the fire, and we all had a good night's sleep, awakening to a beautiful view of the hills of Donegal. She is a wonderful hostess, and we were honored to be her guests.

Room Tip: It's on the edge of town, sign posted, but a tad hard to find. We got very lucky. We just show...

Unique House, stunning views and warm and friendly hosts. Nothing was to much trouble. Big Irish welcome. If you don't enjoy your stay here there is something wrong with you. Packie & Madge, Sydney, Australia

John
I stayed with Nuala and Michael Duddy in their B@B in Letterkenny and it was the most delightful visit I have ever made to Donegal. Nothing was a problem, and the warm of the welcome second to none. Most of all it was a geniune welcome and not just the plastic smile until we get the money. Food was excellent and if you left hungry then it was your own fault. Being from the area means that Nuala and Michael has wonderful local knowledge and offer great pointers as to places well worth a visit not found on holiday maps. Michael was also so kind to travel in front of me through the town and pointed me to my destination. Thanks again Michael and Nuala for the hospitality and we shall be back. John Kearns

Room Tip: All the rooms here are unique and each one beautiful

We spent 3 weeks taking 12 US tourists around the west of Ireland mainly. The only poor night's accommodation we had was Pennsylvania House and although to be fair it may well have been just one of those things - NO HOT WATER - and the one time we desperately needed it after long slogs along the Giant's Causeway. We had no hot water in the evening & none in the morning with lots of fobbing off excuses. We still had to pay full price which was the MOST expensive we had all over Ireland (& some of our B&Bs were top rate). The rooms were also not heated so made for a cold night. No matter how comfy the beds are - if you are cold & there is no hot water it makes for a miserable stay. I can't say I'd ever go back. A "scarcity mentality" does not pair well with "hospitality".

I stayed here one night and fell in love with the Irish landscapes, the warm people like Nuala and Michael and the comfy home that Pennsylvania House is. Ate well, slept like a rock and felt like I made new friends - What else could you ask for? Will definitely go back with a bit more time to explore the individual counties.

We have stayed at this B&B many times and keep going back! It is a beautiful place to stay and is like a home to home. You get a real Irish welcome from Nuala and Michael - their hospitality is second to none. The breakfast is always first class, well cooked and plenty to eat.The bedrooms are spacious and very well presented. It is well situated, just on the outskirts of Letterkenny. We will definitely be back again!
