“Visit to Santa at the Aillwee Cave.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We had a great day visiting Santa at the Aillwee Caves yesterday. Yes, it was pricey at 96 Euro for our family of two adults and two children but despite even the constant drisling rain we were determined to get our moneys worth. We went early to see the Birds of Prey Flying display. The kids really enjoyed that. then we got the train ride up the hill to The Cave where we all received gifts and a very warm welcome at the door. It very much feels like a winter wonderland with the Elves, Jack Frost, Mrs. Clause and ofcourse Santa Claus being amazing. There was also a Santa letter writing desk, Santa's postbox, a puppet show, facepainting, three childrens carrousels/rides, unlimited hot fruit punch and mince pies included in the price. The actual Santa visit through the cave was loads of fun and the excitement was building and building for the children as we got closer and closer to meeting Santa as we sang Christmas songs led by our Elf guide all the way to Santa's grotto. Thanks to some e-mailing wizardry on booking Santa had loads of information on all the children who were amazed be how much Santa knew about them. We will have two very well behaved children atleast until Christmas Day! All in all a great Family Day out in a beautiful setting.

“Visit to Santa!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

The experience was great and the children had a wonderfull time. Very suitable for under 10's. I would have given it 5 stars but the main loo had a very bad pong!

“How do they justify the high admission fee?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

There are caves all over the country and I find it disappointing that they are still overcharging tourists at Ailwee. I know a lot of people are avoiding the caves for this reason.

You waited a long time to comment. What part of the visit to the Aillwee Cave did you find poor value. The Bird of Pray show? the Cave tour ? The site its self, comments like this are not constructive and add little and offer no opportunity for improvement, I would expect more from a senior contributor

“Nice 30 Minute Tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

The cave is worth spending 30 minutes for a tour, and has an interesting history. It is situated on a beautiful hillside and has stores and a birds of prey center onsite, so there are plenty of things to do there. Santa Claus was there during our visit and the children visiting seemed absolutely thrilled to meet him and take photographs and ride the carousel. Very nicely done.
