“The epitome of Irish Hospitality bestowed upon stranded traveler...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

We happened upon this establishment under stressful circumstances. Traveling through the Burren was not very easy, even as New Yorkers having traversed city traffic and cabbies! Our rental car tire wound up getting a flat and the first turn off the roadway happened to be Karen's B&B, "Rusheen Lodge." We popped the trunk and to our chagrin, found no spare tire! Stranded with no spare and no phone signal, we didn't know what to do. Thank goodness, Karen appeared from the B&B, and immediately started to help. She first tried to fix the tire herself and once she realized that wasn't going to work, she got on her phone and began calling around for help. While inside the B&B, we observed how beautiful the Lodge was--with huge, updated rooms and very clean eating rooms. After about an hour of her making several angry phone calls on our behalf, she finally told us to go down to town to relax and she would take care of making sure the car got fixed. We were in need of a break at this point, so we left Karen with our car, luggage, and spirits. About an hour later, we returned to Karen's B&B, to learn that she had the whole situation worked out and got us on the road to continuing our Ireland vacation. Had it not been for Karen and her complete selfless hospitality, who knows what we'd have done?! We were not staying at Rusheen Lodge, but knowing how much Karen went out of her way to help a complete stranger, we know anyone staying at her B&B will not be disappointed and in great hands!!!!!

Spent a night at the Rusheen lodge exploring the cliffs of Moher and enjoying a night in the small town of Ballyvaughan. Karen is a great host and her dad John could not have been nicer. If you are planning to visit Galway bay, do yourself a favor and stay at one of the best kept secrets in Ireland.

Room Tip: The garden suite is a great value and you wake up to a wonderful view and the beauty of the garden p...

The Rusheen Lodge was a terrific treat on our journey through Ireland. Spent one night in the Burren Suite on our way to the Cliffs of Moher. Karen is a wonderful host and cooks a delicious breakfast. The room was large enough for four adults and well appointed. Everything we could ask for to feel at home on the road.

This place totally surpassed our expectations... First of all Karen the owner was so nice and prompt already when I was organizing this trip (for about 15 of us). We wouldn't all fit so she arranged for part of us to stay in a lovely place just across the lawn and gave us a suite for the price of a normal room. The rooms were truly beautiful, newly and comfortably furnished with style and the whole place felt so friendly and cozy, more like staying at a friend's lovely house... Nicely equipped libraries in the corridors that you could use, family pictures decorating the walls, Karen making us breakfast worthy of kings in the morning :-) And the surroundings - oh boy... so beautiful. It was really like a trip to another world. We all loved it, thank you!

Room Tip: Rooms towards the back were great - you wake up to the mooing of cows :-)

We had a lovely stay at Rusheen Lodge--the room was perfect and Karen was absolutely delightful. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend! Karen fixed us a marvelous breakfast and helped us with directions to our next stop. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. We hope to return to Rusheen Lodge in the future.

My wife and I did a traveling trip around the northern half of Ireland and stayed in ten different places, including one night in Rusheen.

We stayed in some excellent places but Rusheen was by far the best of the ten.

The room was perfect; comfortable, well lit, undamaged, and very enjoyable. The place was beautiful inside and out. Breakfast was perfect. The facility has only a few rooms and so the owner had time to spend with guests and had the knowledge to describe attractions for miles around.

Room Tip: We looked in several rooms; they all looked perfect. Our room, with a separate sitting room cost a...

We spend a night here and it more than met our expectations. Our suite was large and very comfortable with views of the walled garden. Karen our host was quite gracious and prepared us a very nice breakfast. We did have a bit of trouble finding it. This was on our first night in Ireland, and we did not realize that the location was outside of the town, so we stopped to ask at a gas station clerk who directed us.
