This is my first visit to the Hyland Burren, we planned a long weekend away to escape, and I called the Mill Park (Sister Hotel) and offered me a 3-night stay or a self-drive 4-day break using their 3 hotels on the west coast… We went for the self-drive break… Stayed one night at The Hyland Burren Hotel, County Claire. The location in the small street in Ballyvaughan is wonderful, the locals and tourist all gather there! A small hotel with real fires, live local music and great service with a real taste of Irish Hospitality, the rooms vary in shape and size, our room had a view over the car part with plenty of light. The staff where all very knowledgeable about the area, and Michael, the barman was very professional while he chatted about the area. The waiting staff in the restaurant again could not do enough for you and this seems to be the policy of all who work there. This county hotel is a time warp for true hotel service, in a beautiful village, in a stunning part of Ireland. One tip, book for more than one night, you will never see enough of the area, too much to do!

Can’t wait to return to the Hyland and stall stay a few nights next time to soak up the Stunning Burren!

It takes a lot of money to feed the Celtic tiger these days. Michael Collins would be proud when a small country town hotel in Clare can command 180 Euro a night !

The hotel is nice, although 3 star vs. 4. Rooms are clean and a typical Irish breakfast. The Hotel is well located for expeditions to the Burren or Cliffs of Moher .

Try the Fish & Chips at the Hotel pub !

My biggest issue is that the hotel provided poor value for the money.

Really Enjoyed Our Stay

We stayed here for two nights in July of 2007, and really enjoyed the hotel. Room was roomy, nice bathroom (quite large), and they had a great breakfast spread in the morning (the traditional Irish breakfast is worth trying at least once). We also ate at the Hotel’s pub during the first night of our trip, and thought the food was very good (we recommend the fish and chips). We also liked that this hotel sits right in the center of a cute Irish town (Ballyvaughan), which has a nice assortment of shops and pubs (and there is a convenience store right across the street for sundries).

  • Liked — Nice Room and Great Location
  • Disliked — Was a bit hot at night in rooms

Ballyvaughn is a little town; a few houses at the junction of two roads. The Hylands Burren Hotel is located right on the corner of these two roads. The surrundings are really beautiful. Don't miss the Cliffs of Moher and the Ailwee Caves.
The hotel has that old fashioned atmosphere where you can relax after a day of touring aroud and feel at home. The room we were given was small with a small double bed. Because we did not sleep very well in that narrouw bed we asked for a room change and were given another room that was a lot bigger. No complaints there. A very good room.
The pub meals were excellent. Recommend their stew!

My wife & I stayed at the Hylands Burren hotel and the had a wonderful experience. The hotel is in a great location to explore the surrounding area and the city has a relaxing small town atmosphere.

The staff at the hotel was very courteous and accomodating. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The restaurant had tasty food and the desserts were delicious.

If we ever venture into Ballyvaughan again, we will definately stay here again.
