This wonderful tea room is a sensual delight. The building is a pretty, traditional Irish cottage, opposite the harbour in Ballyvaughan, set in a lovely garden where patrons can sit out side to eat in the rare warm days in Ireland.
When you enter the tearoom itself, the first sight that greets you is a long table full of amazing looking cakes and sweet treats which actually taste as good as they look!
The room is very attractively and comfortably furnished and leads to a conservatory overlooking the garden which would not look out of place in a Country Homes and Interiors magazine!
However, don't be fooled into thinking that only cakes and scones are available because the hot meals and salads are of the same standared as the cakes.
I have been coming to the tea rooms since I was a young woman holidaying in a nearby village with my 3 small children, and a visit here was a treat for the entire family. The tea rooms was then run, just as impeccably, by the present owner's mother and I am grateful that her daughter is continuing the tradition and upholding the same standards.
I am 60 now and still a visitor to the tea rooms, when I am in the area, and am also delighted to be able to recommend it to friends and family when they are anywhere near Ballyvaughan. On my last visit I brought my 3 year old grandson who cleared his plate and looked around before declaring "I like it here!" Another generation succumbs to the charms of the tea rooms. In the old days we always bought a pot of the home made jam and some scones home to take home with us and I'm glad to see that it is still possible to do this. Enjoy!
