“Clean & comfortable, food not great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2009

We stayed here for 2 nights on a 2-night B&B, one evening meal package which was good value. First impressions: Loved the style of the building, open fire in reception etc. Decor in bedrooms a little old-fashioned, especially in the bathroom, but spotlessly clean which is more important. Staff very friendly and helpful, emailing back immediately on a Sunday night when I emailed an enquiry about dinner. The whole place is very cosy and inviting, a perfect retreat after a cold blustery October day exploring Galway. The only downfall is the food. We both had steak for dinner- a 7.50 supplement, which seemed a lot. The veggies and chips were frozen and just didnt taste nice, and the meringue for dessert was not very nice- could not have been home made. The food was just very disappointing overall and not up to scratch for a 4 star hotel. Good things: cleanliness, comfort, shower (v. powerful & hot), lovely swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc, pleasant helpful staff, lots of parking. Bad things: food, expensive internet

This is my second time to review the Oranmore Lodge in Oranmore Co. Galway.

I and my wife had our wedding reception here in September 2009. We had 157 guests sitting down for the meal and many of those stayed in the hotel. This is my review.

The level of service within the hotel from both the management and the staff is exemplarily. Not once during our time there or the time leading up to the wedding was there ever a request that we had made that wasn't honored.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating - 5 star.

The food in the hotel normally is excellent and reasonably priced. A further endorsement of the food came from an Aunt of mine and an Aunt of my wife’s. Both of whom have worked in the restaurant business for years. My wife’s Aunt owns her own restaurant in Philadelphia and she personally complemented the hotel on their food and service.

The accommodation is very impressive, the standard rooms are some of the most spacious that I have seen in any Hotel of any standard and I have stayed in many 5* hotels across the world.

The suites are magnificent and we were blown away by them.

Personally I would like to commend the two general managers that work in the Oranmore Lodge (Shirley and David). Both of them could not do enough for us and all the guests that stayed in the hotel. My hat goes off to them and to the owner of the hotel Mr. Brian O Higgins.

There is also a very addiquate lesiure facility attached to the hotel containing a 20 metre pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as well as a gym above the pool. There is ample parking and the village of Oranmore is only a 10 min walk from the hotel.

We arrived very late in the evening but still were received with warm courtesy and given a choice of two rooms. The duty manager recommended one room over the other and he wasn't wrong. The room was so comfortable, quiet, and well-equipped. It felt like a suite!

The hotel is very smart but isn't stuffy. The staff were, without exception, courteous and helpful. More than helpful at times! In a country where service or service with a smile have been disappearing, it was refreshing to feel that our custom and presence were valued.

It's also quiet here, despite being busy. The guests at a wedding during our stay could party all night and yet weren't disturbing sleeping residents because the bedrooms are isolated from the bar and function rooms.

We didn't dine here (apart from breakfast, which was nothing special but good enough) so can't comment on lunch or dinner. However, we used room service and were impressed by the presentation.

Finally, if you like to work out, swim, or soak in the sauna, the hotel has all those facilities. Nothing amazing but functional, clean, and well-laid out.

We enjoyed our stay so much here that we can hardly wait to return to the Oranmore Lodge!

Just to let you know I've stayed here with my friends saturday 4th July and had a great time.

Arrived with a warm welcome and the manager at the desk even helped me carry my bags to my room!!!

We dined in the bar and had fantastic food and was served by a lovely barman that had great witt!!!!

We walked down the village for a few drinks before heading into Galway city for our night out... very handy bus near to the hotel to bring us in... cheaper than gettin a cab!!

Overall.... would definitely reccommend this hotel - wonderful staff, great food and well worth the visit - great value for money!!

We will be back again - Thanks Oranmore Lodge!

This family run Hotel is in Oranmore and is conveniently situated near to Galway City. Their is a Leisure centre with all the usual bits It is clean but it could do with a few colorful Murals or drawings on the walls or ceiling.A few exotic plants would really set it off
We stayed in a family room which was 'roomey' and clean. The bathroom needs a bit modernizing To be honest we did n't eat at the hotel With family we found it a bit expensive
We usually wander around the city to discover new places, pubs and eateries which we did
We had a great fish meal at the famous Mc Donagh's fish restaurant.opposite The Quay's Pub in the city. Fish and chips Fresh from a selection of about 12 types cost about €7.There is definately a Pub or restaurant to suit everyone's taste in the area around the city centre.

Stayed here for 2 nights during the Connamarathon. The hotel was clean, well equipped and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and have lovely fresh bedlinen. Although decor is a bit dated the overall standard was great.
