“Very friendly, excellent food, great facilities.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013 via mobile

Stayed in a family room which was very roomy and comfortable and clean. Room can hold 4 people but only has 2 teacups. Ate breakfast and dinner in bar, both were excellent, especially the bar food. Staff were efficient, helpful but more importantly very friendly. The leisure facilities were very good, best to use pool early morning as can be very busy in afternoons. I would be happy to stay here again.

The Irish United Nations Veterans Association held their Annual Delegate Conference there on 15/6/13. The service was of the highest standard and the staff were most friendly at all times. Attention to detail was the norm and also the value for money. Special mention must go to the Conference manager Shirley Kilduff who looked after us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a venue for a conference. 100% satisfied!

Myself and a small group stayed in this hotel and loved it. The rooms are large and very clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast was very good. We had dinner in the dining room and it was excellent with large portions. Despite the bar being busy with a number of partys taking place the staff were quick and made time to have a chat. It is easy to find and in a quiet location and still within easy walking distance of Oranmore. None of our group would hesitate to stay here again.

I hazard a guess that the hotel has a 4 star rating because it has a pool and leisure centre. Sadly though, the pool facility is not great! Well, not strictly true, the pool is OK but the changing facilities are far from good. Being here on a family weekend away with friends I was very disappointed to find that in this day and age that there is no family changing facilities! Taking my 4 year old daughter and a friends 8 year old daughter into a dirty, cramped and very busy male changing room of young men (who were using the gym facilities) was awkward for all concerned and frankly, sub standard. We had to return to our rooms to shower and change.

We had a ground floor bedroom overlooking the car park. This meant that we couldn't really have the curtains opened without exposing the whole room all the incoming and outgoing traffic. Not at all private. The room was an ok size and everything in it functioned.

The rest of the hotel was quite nice, more quaint than modern and in quite a nice location .. near the coast & very close to Galway town. So a great location for your sight seeing trip to the area.

A nice selection on the bar and restaurant menus and the food was all pretty good.

Value for money is probably ok but leisure facilities and room setting really let the place down for us!

Whilst the food is good and the staff are friendly and efficient, we were most disappointed with this hotel. Largely because our room(302) was awful. It was drab and there was a very bad odour in the room which we believe was coming from the bathroom drain. The bed was located in an existing wardrobe that had its doors removed. The furniture did not match and if one wanted to have a drink the kettle had to go on the floor! There was no hair dryer in the room. The room does have a modern bathroom (up 3 steps) but the water supply is inconsistent and we had to run the water for some time to get any hot water. To top it all, the room door had to be slammed to close it - not good for other guest in the hotel. In addition, this hotel is not in an ideal location, it is surrounded by an housing estate. so forget having an evening stroll!

Dear Ajohnder

Thank you for your review, however we are very disappointed to read it. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and at all times feedback is addressed.

Apologies that the room we assigned to you did not meet your expectations. Room 302 is one of the rooms in the original part of the house and are lovely large rooms with high ceilings, leather sofa and chairs and with the bathrooms on a raised level (3 steps),

With regards to your comment about the bed being in an existing wardrobe - this is incorrect - this is what is known as a Murphy Bed which has a surround around the bed - it was never a wardrobe.

With regards to the door having to be slammed to close it - we apologise for this and can assure you it will go on our maintenance list.

Your comment regarding not being in an ideal location for a stroll - Our location is only a 6 minute stroll from the beautiful village of Oranmore offering shops, pubs and restaurants, church and library etc aswell as the old coast road going towards Galway so it really is an ideal location for strolling along with beautiful views of Galway Bay or just browsing through the village.

We thank you for your feedback and we hope that you will return to stay with us again in the future.

Kind Regards,

Shirley Kilduff

Stayed in the Oranmore Lodge Hotel for an event with a group of 15. The hotel couldn't have done more for us! It was excellent. We had a buffet meal which was really superb. The function room was decorated for us with background music - great touches which added to the occasion!
The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The full Irish breakfast topped it all off as a really great stay in a really great hotel.

Stayed in this hotel recently with my daughter! Prompt & courteous check-in. Clean & hygienic surroundings ( I am very fussy with hygiene). Both dinner & breakfast beautiful. Staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. From reservation stage to checkout stage the staff were lovely. We had a query with the running hot water in our en-suite & immediately the issue was looked at.......it turned out to be something very small! I do feel that the leisure centre could do with a little refurbishment. 10 outta 10 from me & my daughter! We will be back!
