“A pleasant hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

Stayed at this hotel during our coach tour holiday this July. A pleasant hotel with good staff service. The meals were good, tasty and hot, although limited in choice, being a coach tour. The breakfasts were the best meals, buffet style, hot and full english, and also continental.
Location was not good for Galway town centre, but good for road network.

Room Tip: No preference really

Thank you Mal167 for your review.

As always we are delighted that people take the time to review us - next time you visit Galway give me a call and we will ensure you are booked into the restaurant to avail of all of our wonderful menus as opposed to being with a group.

We have a great bus service which runs every 20 minutes from the bottom of the driveway (5 minutes walk) to and from Galway city so its very handy - I know you could not avail of this as you were on a coach for the few days and travelling around until late each evening..

We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel.

Thank you again for your comments,

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2012

I stayed here with friends during June for the mumford and sons concert. We had a great stay, staff with extremely friendly.. Very helpful reception staff organising taxi's and been helpful in giving directions. Made us feel very welcomed as they knew us by name by the time we were leaving and we were only there one night. Marie in the restaurant was great, delivering breakfast in bed the next morning.

Stayed here last weekend. Surprised that no porter appeared to be employed as there were small tours in both nights, and there was no assistance offered to help get luggage and arthritic Mother up the two flights of stairs to our room. Room spacious but lots of dust behind the free standing furniture. Disappointed with the restaurant food and the addition of unjustified supplements for some items. More care could be taken at breakfast when serving up. Food left sitting for long time was served up and I saw a gentleman's plate swimming with water from split scrambled egg. A complaint we had at dinner was addressed by a member of staff coming to our room but the promise of a reduction on our final bill was ignored. I did ask to be contacted re this following my departure but my request to the receptionist and further emailing have not received a reply.

I had reason to travel to Oranmore in County Galway with a friend, after our business was over we felt the need for some real food. The hotel was recommended so we arrived there at about 13.10 hrs.My friend and I had starters, he a vegetable soup and I the 'Inishmaan 'chowder, these came with a basket of brown bread and two rolls. The soup was reported to be exellent and my chowder was delicious. We both opted for the rib roast beef, this was served with a thick gravy and Yorkshire pudding and a side of chips and cabbage ,mash and carrot. The meat was plentiful and tender and the green cabbage well cooked.........very well presented and very tasty .I had a desert of tiramasu ,a mineral water and then two coffees.the service was prompt and very pleasant and the bill came in at 44 euro , fine food at a very reasonable price, as Arnie would say 'I'll be back !!!!

Booked one night stay for wedding anniversary. Got great rate but terrible room! Like 2 star standard. Bed looked like was pull down one as cupboard type boards around head of it. Room was over bar in old part hotel so could be noisy. Loads space but not renovated in years. Bathroom basic. Shower tray grubby. Reason was no water! Were then moved to new room which was nice other than week old sambo left in fridge by previous guests.... Restaurant staff friendly and food good. Music and atmosphere in bar good. Should not be marketed as four star but at best three star!
