The waterfront location is definitely the best aspect of this ageing hotel. Our room was in need of refurbishment and smelled fairly musty, but it was grand for a brief overnight stay. The staff member who checked us in was very inhospitable (we arrived rather late - around 23:00), but the woman working in the morning was very friendly and helpful. The hotel offers free wireless internet, which was a plus, and parking is relatively easy to find on the street. We got a good deal for this hotel by booking online.

I would say its not for a light sleeper, there was a wedding and 2 parties on the 3 nights stayed in the hotel. Didn’t affect our stay though. Breakfast isn’t included but can be added on for 10 Euro each, which serves a good selection. We visited the restaurant on the first night as we arrived late, the food was ok, nothing amazing (to be honest my local pub serves better food), but it filled a hungry stomach. Internet was available in all rooms. Used a Corporate Id to get a discount and no questions asked (01399660).
Overall I think I would use again, cheaper than Dublin and such a nice area. There’s nothing like being on the coast.

This was the first place we stayed at in our whirlwind tour of Ireland. We arrived close to midnight on a Saturday which did not present any problems. That's the principal reason we went with a hotel instead of a B&B, the late arrival. Booked online with a AAA discount which really knocks the price down.

Location is awesome! Right on the strand with restaurants and bars in walking distance. You just love the feeling when pulling up to this terrific looking building! We parked on the street in front of the hotel as parking as free at that time of the night. I saw that they had parking in back but didn't inquire because the free street parking was fine with us.

The room was large and nicely appointed. It was one of the rooms in the newer section. No problems with wireless.

Negatives are that if you are disabled, this is definitely not the place for you. Although elevators exist, all sorts of stairs to deal with to match the older part of the building with the newer. Also, breakfast wasn't included but can be added for 10 Euro per person. It offered typical Irish fixings and was all you can eat, though the pudding was the worst we had in Ireland.

Didn't experience any of the problems other reviewers have had. Wouldn't think twice about staying here again.

I can't say enough good about the staff and hotel. We arrived Sunday night to discover that Travelocity had canceled our paid reservations. They kindly gave us a room for the night and helped us sort out Travelocity's error the next morning. Our room was very clean and quiet. The hotel has a wonderful old fashioned charm. My son and his fiance sent evenings in the lounge near the comforting fireplace enjoying a drink and using their laptops although we had WI in the room. I became very ill halfway thru the trip and the restaurant staff made sure I had lemon and honey for my in-room tea.
