terrible service at reception, parking cost 5 euros per night which as a regular user of hotels in this country, this is the first time i have had to pay car parking fees. the breakfast could have been a lot nicer and the staff could do with at least looking happy in their jobs as they create the atmosphere of "eat your meal and get out" and you dont feel comfortable in the restaurant, on the plus side, the evening meal was lovely but i wont be back to this hotel if i ever stay in Bray again.

Stayed at the Royal Hotel Wicklow for a one-night stay. Was pleasantly surprised with a quick check in and found the receptionist extremely pleasant to deal with. On arrival to my room (having booked a single) was surprised to find a double and single bed in my rather large room. The room was spotlessly clean and had all the usual amenities of tea coffee, flat screen television, hairdryer, iron etc. I decided to have lunch at the bar, which was a bit busy because there was a match on, however found the service to be ok and the food itself (panini and wedges) to be quite tasty. The breakfast the next morning was ok however the bacon wasn’t to my liking. All in all for a 3 star hotel I felt the Royal was excellent and would have no hesitation in staying there again.

I booked a Valentines weekend for myself and my girlfriend which consisted of a full Irish Breakfast each morning (the fried eggs still had some of the shell attached). A romantically themed evening meal on a night of your choice and a half bottle of wine and chocolate in your room on arrival (only received chocolates and 2 mini bottles of water). The main problem was with the rooms, we ordered a non smoking double room and on arrival were given a room with 2 single beds, after complaining we were moved to a room that was a smoking room (the smell was so bad my girlfriend got a headache within minutes and that is no exaggeration), after complaining again we were eventually moved to a room that was a non smoking double room. In the bar, there were two barmen behind the counter, the place was NOT busy and it was still next to impossible to order a drink and when we did get to order, the two guys were not very pleasant at all. In the restaurant, the staff were setting up for breakfast at all tables around us as were eating our meal and it was only 8.30pm! At one point the person I assume was the manager was giving out to one of the waitresses over getting vegetables to a guests table in front of the customers and after he left the restaurant, the waitresses were verbally abusing him in the back kitchen (we could hear this as the door was open). Also, with an evening meal included in the price of the stay, how are they justified in charging a €4.00 supplement for the steak. On the plus side, the dinner was lovely but breakfast was not. The hotel does not even have a car park of its own and uses a car park at the back which charges €5.00 per night. It was only an okay service and dont think I would be too encouraged to stay here again

Stayed at the Royal on a special weekend deal with Go Ireland. We used Bray as a base to explore Glendalough and Powerscourt. The Hotel was a real pleasant surprise. The rooms were spacious, clean and homely. The staff were very courtoious and friendly and the location was great for visitin the surroundng Wicklow area. The leisure centre was a real luxury after a day out walking and again it was a very well equipped and well run centre. Our only grievence was the Restaurant, we had Bed and Breakfast included and also an evening meal for one of the nights. There was no organisation in the restaurant, we were left for 45 mins dinner without so much as a drink and there were only 3 other tables actually eating at the time. Breakfast was pretty much the same, a bit of a free for all, with agitated people waiting for basics such as toast anf tea for more then 30-40 mins at a time. All that is needed is some sort of management as the poor staff were running around like headless chickens. Apart from the restaurant nightmare I would highly reccomend this hotel.

I just cant praise this hotel enough , Rooms , Bar, restaurant and leisure facilities all excellent plus the welcome and help from all the staff was second to none.... brilliant location, right on main St with a short walk to the promanade or the D.A.R.T. which takes around 30 minutes into the heart of dublin . my wife and I had a wonderful relaxing weekend with good food, entertainment, and quality service.. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone...

Will be sure to be visiting again soon...
