I arrived here on Friday 21st and checked out on the 23rd . I was staying here for 2 nights with my other half as we were both attending a weekend course nearby. From the outside and the website one gains a positive impression from the Kilcoran Lodge but all that changes once you go in the front door. The reception area is drab, cold and very dated with a damp/musty smell evident throughout. The corridors to the room are cold and badly lit. Then the bedroom .Cold Old dirty and smelly . The tv was a vintage 12 inch portable the windows were dirty as were the window frames, the bed linen had footmarks on it. The bed linen consisted of a sheet and thin hairy blanket which in october doesnt do much to keep you warm. The bathroom was cold, the shower was cold although powerful. There was no facilities in the room that one expects in an alledged 4 star establishment ,ie wi-fi,ironing facilities and no biscuits to go with the tea.
Food was awful. On arrival at 10 in the evening there was no proper menu available. All we could get was a plain sandwich which was white bread ham sandwich and a side portion of grey gone off coleslaw. The ham was also terrible. We tried the continental breakfast the first morning which was cereal, diluted drinks ,tinned fruit,ot of date yoghurt. Very dissapointing.
On Sunday Morning the full Irish was tried,it was equally bad and was obviously re-heated. The quality of the ingredients was sub-standard.
The leisure Centre was tiny and dirty . The pool was like a big bath and was cold, the sauna didnt work and the steam room was only mildly warm.
This hotel should be condemned, those who rated it need there heads examined. Management should be ashamed and take a reality check .And to add insult to injury the cheek of charging €90 per room is utterly insane.
