We stayed at Tir Na Nog our last night in a b and b in Ireland. We made the reservation earlier in the day when we had arrived to tour the Rock of Cashel. This was the first time we had made a last minute reservation on our trip and were a bit anxious about it. We should not have been. Tir Na Nog was one of the best bed and breakfast experiences we have had anywhere, not just in Ireland.
Upon our arrival, Tommy greeted us with a welcoming smile and immediate attention to our needs. He introduced us to our room and his home and his family and Molly, the family dog. We felt welcomed by a family, not owners of a bed and breakfast. Tir Na Nog is a purpose built bed and breakfast and, therefore, offers a level of comfort and amenities not associated with converted homes. Our room and bath were appointed with the little extra touches we associate with fine hotels, not b and b's. Tommy also answered our questions about dinner in Cashel and his suggestion of a "fine pub" (Brian Boru) turned out to be one of our best dining experiences in Ireland.
Our breakfast the next morning at Tir Na Nog was equally satisfying, but the best thing about Tir Na Nog was, of course, Tommy and Joan and their family (including Molly).
The Rock of Cashel is a must visit in Ireland, and Tir Na Nog is a must stay if you are in Cashel.
