“Basic pub accommodation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

This place is pretty basic and pricey for what you get. We arrived late on the first night and the staff were great, even accommodating us with food in the bar, we both had steaks which were excellant. It was all a bit down hill from there. We found the hallways had an unpleasant smell. The room was fine but I had difficulty with the shower (could be me) and it was a considerable climb to the second floor. There was a general grotty feeling about the place and the breakfast was only passable. .

Had lunch in Mulcahys yesterday, wanted a toasted sandwich for my lunch. I went to the sandwich counter and saw that the price of the toasted special (ham, cheese, tomatoe) was €7.95 I taught that it was very expensive for a toasted sandwich and assumed that it was probably going to be served with chips and salad, the woman made up the sandwich while i went up to the top of the counter to pay. When I returned to collect my toasted special, it was the most miserable toasted special i ever saw, no side salad or chips! I asked the women if she could give me some side salad she said it was going to be extra...so i said can i not have some coleslaw at least?? "no" i was told it was extra. Never again will I go back to this place!!! Wished I had looked for my money back. 2 other local restaurants only charge €4.95 for toasted sandwich with sidesalad and crisps, will not be giving Mulcahys another penny!!!!

B&B rooms over Mulcahy's pub
Check-in at pub, separate entrance up 2 flights of stairs. (ask for first floor - if you cannot make 4 flights to second floor!)
Free parking available in private staff car park - if you ask nicely.
Previous comments about hot water partially complete - we found shower needed a good 5 minutes to get hot - so no complaints there.
Rooms an average size with average decoration.

Breakfast in bar dining area - good quality - sausages maybe not to everyone's liking.
Very quiet town midweek - so no potential street noise issues there. Rooms appear to be front and rear facing.
Price at 70 euro for 2 persons B&B was not great for non-hotel. Edge of town hotel was offering same rate..but we wanted the central location.

Room Tip: first floor - stairs are steep - no lift. obviously you risk street noise at weekend - so second f...

Located in Gladstone Street, in the heart of Clonmel town. Food is all right, at the weekends in a form of buffet, it's got lovely interiour, staff seems quite unhappy over there.

I've not stayed in the hotel, so can't comment, but I do eat in the restaurant regularly. The food is always good, the staff are helpful and you can't get anywhere more central in Clonmel. I would recommend it to anyone looking for something to eat in the town.
