“Comfy beds in a classy hotel - and big pots of tea for breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

We stayed for 3 nights here and the rooms were spotless, well equipped and the beds were super comfy. Breakfast was tasty and in a lesson to all caterers, the big pots of hot tea (in vacuum flask teapots) seemed to make the breakfast; great to not have those tiny one cup teapots that you have to keep getting refilled! There is a nice patio area off the bar with some ponds with fountains.
It is a 13 story building on a ring road but don't let that put you off. The view from the restaurant on the 13th floor for breakfast is gorgeous. The only thing it lacks for the leisure traveller is a leisure centre.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Stayed here as we were going to a wedding 10 mins away at Darver Castle, came from Donegal via the bus so not actually sure what there is in the area and never really had the time to explore it.

Staff were very friendly, the hotel had a lovely atmosphere, very nice restaurant. The room we had was absolutely gorgeous, blue with daffodils and it an amazing view. Great room-size, fitted in a wee table and two chairs in the corner of the room. Very clean. There was a very spacious bathroom so for two people getting ready in the morning to go to a wedding, it was definitely a help! The bed was enormous, extremely comfortable. Very tasty breakfast in the morning, service was great. Nice romantic atmosphere.

Would absolutely love to come back again:)

Stayed one night in Dundalk on our way to Newcastle, the hotel was clean and pleasant front desk staff were very helpful. Shout out to our Michigan neighbour behind the desk.
Rate was ok but did not include breakfast.

My partner and I stayed here recently on our way up to the Antrim coast for a weeks holiday. We wanted to break the journey from Dublin, so we chose this hotel as our rest place for the night.
I couldn't believe it when we arrived, as I had passed by here on many occasion and going by the poor standard of the sister hotel in Blanchardstown, I was not expecting it to be great. What a surprise, the minute you walk in the door, they are total professionals. We were given our key and headed to the room. It was on the eleventh floor, and wow, what a room, and an amazing view over Blackrock bay. The decor, the bed, the whole place was just pure comfort all the way.
As I checked out our executive room, I noticed there was no bottles of water anywhere, surely a standard in any room at this stage. Then as I opened the fridge door, there was a packet of smoked mackerel left there, and the fridge was not even on. The smell was terrible, so they came up and took the packet out of the room, but didn't do any clean up afterwards, which left the smell there all night.
We rang down twice, but they just wanted to move us, and we were far too tired at that stage. The discounted money off our charges to the room, as we had dinner and breakfast it the room. They also promised to look after us on our next visit because of the cleaning oversight.
We most definitely will be going back to the hotel, as it has a hell of a lot more pluses going for it. The dining room also commands spectacular views over the town and the bay.

We arrived at the hotel on a full weekend in August and could t have had a better stay. The check in was friendly and efficient, the room immaculate and comfortable on the 10th floor. We enjoyed dinner in the bar great steaks and despite the fact it was incredibly busy service was swift and polite. Breakfast was equally impressive great food and efficient staff. When we checked out we had no issues and a two night stay including bar bill, dinner and breakfasts came to just over £ 250. There were all sorts of groups families, couples and our party attending a wedding. If you are on the are this hotel is a great place to stay. We had no niggles at all.

Stayed in the Crowne Plaza hotel- there was only one room left so none of the packages were available. I feel that this was a penny pinching tactic as they were charging 159 B&B for the night. The room itself which was apparently an upgrade was in no way comparable to other four star hotels for that rate- the room was pleasant but small and basic- no bottles of water, etc. The shower was very weak in power. However, the bed was very good quality and really comfortable. The breakfast was nice, although the food in the restaurant was hit and miss- there are other restaurants out towards Carlingford in particular that are of a much better standard with friendlier staff.
Overall, great hotel if you are paying less than €100 per night but overpriced with mediocre service and room on this occasion- will try the Ballymacscanlon hotel on my next visit to Dundalk.

Room Tip: Rooms are very small but there's a great view from higher floors- ask for a room overlooking Bla...

Only had one night to enjoy this beautiful hotel but would love to come back another time. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were on our way to Donegal to begin our vacation and booked online. Didn't know what we would get till arrival but pleasantly surprised. Great location and easy to find, especially for us Canadians who are used to driving on the other side of the road!. Clean and comfortable room with proper bed for our 16 year old son. Fantastic top floor resturant and probably one of the best "Irish" breakfasts of out trip!
