“Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

A B&B that lives up to all expectations. We received an excellent welcome, both friendly and professional. On arrival we were offered Tea or Coffee, We wanted to make the best of the day and Imelda our host helped us with advise on all the local attractions. The rooms were fresh and nicely decorated, very bright, airy and spotlessly clean. They were also very well maintained, a good size and had a cosy, homely feel. Our room had a great view and contained a Double and a single bed. The B&B is in a great location, close to the village and all other amenites. Breakfast menu had good choices and catered for all tastes. We had the Full Irish which was excellent and the service was carried out by Imelda's daughter (Rachel) who was very pleasant and professional.
We were touring the south west area of Ireland for the first time but will be returning many more times in the future

A great place to Stay

This B&B is lovely. It epitomises Irish hospitality and excellent attention to detail, cleanliness and great food. Myself and my partner stayed here for two days and the rooms were spacious, clean and the shower was good. The breakfast was great and the coffee was excellent. I would highly recommend.

I have just returned from a wonderful holiday in southwest Ireland with my husband and two friends. We stayed at three bed and breakfasts and one castle. Three out of four places were lovely and good value, most significantly they were not much more expensive than Island View.
Island View house is unimposing and looks and feels rather like a hostel. I can believe that walkers could find this establishment acceptable although rather expensive.
The lounge is furnished with the sort of furniture popular in the fifties, my friend recognised the sofa fabric from their late grandparents caravan! The bedrooms are small and very basic, furniture of very cheep quality. Bathrooms poor and showers inefficient, toiletries only fit for emergencies.
Imelda was friendly and helpful, I am only sorry I cannot say anything positive about her B&B.

Room Tip: Avoid I am afraid

Imelda your hostess is as warm, friendly and helpful as you could wish for. The room was clean and spacious with very simple decor. The breakfast was generous in portions and cooked expertly. We received excellent information from Imelda on where to eat, visit, and shop while in town.

Stayed here Whit week late May early June for a week with my Sister when we were tracing our family routes in Killarney, absolutely brilliant. Very reasonable rates at 35 per person sharing and 40euro for a single. Rooms were clean and well equipped with all you need and breakfast was very good. The owner Imelda could not have been more helpful. She was really lovely and pointed out ot all the best places to visit and it is a gorgeous part of the country, right on the ring of Beara, also ideal for travelling to Killarney Lakes, Kenmare, ring of Kerry etc. Garinish Island ferry is a two minute walk and the town centre is 5 mins walk. Garinish Island ( also Garnish known as Island) is absolutely idillic, and plenty to do and see ( including the seals on the way there and back ) for a good 4 hour stay ( google it but pictures don't do it justice )..Will definately be going back probably with a larger family party next year and will either stay here or might book the Islland View self catering Holiday Home next door, as great views of the Island from the Guest House and the Holiday home and couldn't wish for nicer hosts.

Room Tip: Slept great each night and it was really busy. We had a twin as the singles were booked, this was g...

I totally disagree with the review by Huddersfielddermot. This is your typical warm & friendly Irish B & B not a 5 star hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious & made up every day. Soap & Shampoo are provided. What more do you need? Surely if you are traveling around you bring some personal toiletries with you. The prices quoted are incorrect. The breakfast is excellent--freshly prepared for you and offering a choice of cereals, porridge, yoghurt & fruit, full Irish, eggs coked anyway you wish and also a cold plate of cold meats & cheese, tea or coffee. Imelda is lovely, a wonderful host, helpful & full of local knowledge. I would highly recommend this family run B & B. We have stayed in a number of B & Bs and this is one of the best.

Arriving at the Glengarriff Island View B&B, soaked from heavy rainstorms when walking the Beara Way and crossing the mountains between Kenmare and Glengarriff, we immediately experienced a very warm welcome, paper to dry up our shoes, a cosy room, warm and colorful, and a breakfast leaving no wishes open.
