Arrived with 3 college buddies for a catch up & some laughs! On checking in we discovered one of the party had been upgraded as it was her birthday. Beautiful room provided with amazing lake view, seating area, deck & cookies! Lovely start. Two of us had booked a suite, only €30 extra on top of a regular room & it was fabulous. Two bedrooms, both tastefully appointed & a shared bathroom. If I were picky, I'd say there was a DVD player & a tiny TV, a bit old fashioned. The Bose system had no iPod dock only a radio & CD player, so last century!
Room was clean with luxurious bedding & comfortable beds. It was worn in places, paint needs redoing, it needs freshening, but this is minor. Bathroom was large but there were only enough products for one & they weren't a brand I knew. Towels need replacing, while clean they weren't white & fluffy, rather, grey & tired.
Anyway, to dinner. Very attentive staff served our pre dinner drinks. Our only complaint about dinner was that our sides took a very long time to come out, despite asking both the maitre d' & our server. Not many chestnuts in evidence in our Brussels sprouts & chestnuts!
Dinner was very good, lots of well served food, no issue with portions.
Drinks in the bar followed but man, they can charge. Almost €4 for a Coke & €7 for JD!
Breakfast the next day was very good & they didn't rush us out of the dining room. Late check out was requested & that was fantastic for lazing around!
The Wineport is lovely. Expensive enough when you factor in booze but worth a visit for an annual special occasion. Setting is awesome right on the lake & the place is in harmony with its surroundings. For ultimate luxury though they need to pay more attention to the finer details, towels, luxury bathroom products & sides that come on time .
