We arrived in a gale, but were welcomed into this warm, friendly hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, the bathrooms up to date and spotless, and the food is worth a trip to Ireland. Hope to visit again in the future.

Sheedy's Country House Hotel is a family run establishment located in the sleepy little town of Lisdoonvarna--although, the area is far from boring. Nearby are the spectacular Cliffs of Moher and the lively musical pubs of Doolin.

We stayed at Sheedy's in May 2005. Our double twin room cost us 60 euros a night, less than any hotel we stayed in on the trip. Frankly, we didn't know what to expect.

Upon entering the hotel, we were greeted by the owner, Martina Sheedy. She and her husband (who by the way is the chef) run this hotel with almost military precision. Martina buzzes around the hotel effortlessly, while she tends to each guest with great care.

The hotel is absolutely spotless. After a while it became a game to see if we could find any dust. We touched everything, including an out of the way window sill in the dining room to see if we could find a smidgen of dust...but there was none.

Our rooms, and the others we could see were newly decorated. You could smell the new furniture. The bathroom was spotless and the shower had so much water pressure, I didn't want to get out.

The breakfast was tasty and the coffee came in individual french coffee presses. Dinner was tasty and creative. It's obvious that this is the place that locals come to for their special nights out.

After staying here one would wonder whether Martina Sheedy ever sleeps. She checked us in at night and was up at the crack of dawn, checking people out, giving out directions--even serving us our morning coffee. She's an Irish gem and her hotel shines just as bright.
