Staff were great but the building is horrible..overall though it was a place to sleep in and we enjoyed our overall stayin howth...The courtesy bus was a great addition and saved our legs from the walk to howth central

Hotel offers stunning views across the water. Room was not that clean but for the price it was acceptable. Staff were great though. Breakfast was a bit average and 'mass produced'. Great to have such a good spa and gym right there though. All in all I enjoyed my stay.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are delighted that overall your stay with us was enjoyable. We have discussed your comments regarding the cleanliness of the bedroom with housekeeping as no matter what price you pay, the cleanliness should be of a very high standard and this is what we expect. Whilst we feel there is a good choice on the breakfast buffet, we are at present adding more items and generally improving the presentation. Thank you again for your feedback - it helps us get things right!
Kind regards.

Booked hotel as base for visiting the excellent Dublin Bay Prawn Festival. Stunning quiet location, warm welcome at check-in and lovely sea view room overlooking golf course. 15 mins walk through lovely parkland and past Howth Castle brings you to the harbour area, also where the station is so handy for taking the Dart into Dublin.

Breakfast was good but the young staff seemed under pressure. The only negatives were that the bedroom was very hot, probably caused by the location of the swimming pool whose late opening hours meant you couldnt have a swim before breakfast, therefore we sadly never got a chance to use it.

Dear Guest,
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the Dublin Bay Prawn Festival and your stay with us. I am sorry if the bedroom was too warm – the radiators do have thermostats and we will get maintenance to make sure they are all working properly. I am not sure what you mean about the swimming pool because you should have been able to get a swim in as the pool is open from 7 am to 10 pm daily. We do hope you will return and stay with us again.
Kind regards.

I have been here with my wife and my two daughters, and another family of four. We had a great weekend, rooms where ok, restaurant good, fantastic value over all. The swimming poll was very clean, wet and dry sauna beside the pool. Strongly recommend.

I had heard that they had done the place up - well it must have been in an area that I didn't see.
The bedrooms were comfortable but shabby & old. There was only 1 3 pin plug socket in my room - all the rest were 2 pin ones.
I was part of a large group and dinner on Saturday was very slow. By the time the last person was served the first people were already finished. And in some cases the food was cold but as it had taken so long to arrive in the first place nothing was said.
I wouldn't be using the hotel again in a hurry.

Dear Guest,
I apologise if you felt the service at dinner was a bit slow for your group.
Deer Park is not a modern purpose built hotel – we are in fact open forty years. Over the years the hotel has been developed, adding more bedrooms and facilities such as swimming pool, gym and spa. Guests staying at Deer Park will not find ultra modern décor and furnishings but they will find large comfortable clean bedrooms and staff that take pride in ensuring that guests have a pleasant stay.
Kind regards.

Stayed here for two nights. Loved the location. Great surroundings. A little far for walking to the town in the evenings however. Rooms a bit tired and dated, but surroundings do make up for that.

I'd say visit in summer.... but if I were visiting Howth again I might look to stay elsewhere and simply visit this hotel to enjoy the views and just have a drink instead... Personal choice I would rather a 4 star hotel or a more contemporary style room.

Room Tip: Take a trip to the bar for the view

This hotel is a little tired and certainly needs a facelift but dont let that put you off altogether, overall it wasnt bad and the location, price and Howth itself makes up it (surprisingly there arent many places to stay around Howth). We got a great deal for two nights on the hotels website. The weekend we stayed however, in early February, the heating for our part of the hotel broke down and the room was freezing (it was Baltic outside), plus there was no hot water the next morning! I see from reviews that this may not be a one off. Needless to say we were not happy campers the first day, but the receptionists were as helpful as possible and they moved us to a lovely room near the swimming pool for the second night which was warm & had a fanastic panoramic view out to sea.To be fair both rooms were also spotlessly clean & equipped to a good standard with tea & coffee making facilities, good wardrobe space, comfortable beds, plenty of towels, toiletries etc so couldnt complain there, the second room even had a fridge. We didnt eat in the hotel so I cant comment on that, however we would really recommend The Brass Monkey in Howth for lunch. King Sitric restaurant is overpriced, lacking athmosphere and quite formal, we were sorry we hadnt booked to eat in the more relaxed bar downstairs. The free shuttle bus from the hotel was handy & punctual, it is just a little too far to walk into town at night. Im amazed there isnt more accommodation available around Howth, its a beautiful spot & well worth a visit.

Dear Guest,
It is good to read that you got a good value deal when you stayed with us in early February and that you found our bedrooms to be of a good standard and spotlessly clean. I am sure our staff explained to you the reason for the issues with the heating and hot water – we were in the process of changing from oil to gas and we actually had the plumbers on site over a few weekends to ensure things would go smoothly and to be able to solve any problems with the minimum of delay to our guests. I am really sorry that despite our efforts you had a problem but glad to hear that you were moved to another room which you found to be perfectly fine. The changeover from oil to gas is now complete and working well and hopefully will continue to do so. Howth is really a beautiful place with excellent restaurants and bars and we appreciate how lucky we are to be situated in such a great location. Thank you for your understanding and your kind comments.
Kind regards.
