“Lovely Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

We stayed in the Ard Ri a few times and found the reception staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms very spacious and clean. The breakfast was okay, it was adequate. We had lunch and dinner there one day and didnt enjoy either. The food wasnt great and the menu didnt have enough variety. We would definitely go back for bed and breakfast again.

Somewhat difficult to navigate the corridors. Service was good, the rooms were clean, breakfast and dinner were not "gourmet" but nice anyway. Good beer, and nice atmosphere. not in the "centre" of Tuam, but conveniently located anyway. Parking in the yard.

Lovely welcome and Bar food last night was lovely but portions were big ! Wife had small breakfast this morning and it was really adequate and tasty. Service was fast and friendly. Free fast Wifi everywhere, Hotel and rooms are spotless and Staff are always polishing and dusting. We are on a Deal and it is really good value, Hotel was more than I expected. Just finished Carvery Dinner and food was tasty and piping hot. Great place to base yourself for touring Connemara and West Coast. Rooms are really nice with crispy sheets and duvet and beds are very comfortable. I would come again.

We attended a wedding last weekend. Rooms were lovely, food was great especially the traditional Irish breakfast. The staff couldn't do enough. Lovely hotel would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family :)

We stopped at this hotel for some food on our way from Mountbellew. We got a table at the window beside the entrance. It was in a narrow area which leads to a open space and the bar area. We settled in and after about five minutes waiting, we beckoned a waitress to at least give us a menu as the carvery had just closed at 3:00pm and we arrived about 3:10pm. There was a teapot and dirty cups on our table. We gave our order at 3:15pm and the waitress returned with our drinks but still did not remove the dirty cups! After 30mins waiting, we enquired as to where our order was? We were told that it was only ordered 15 mins ago! We explained that we ordered at 3:15 and THEY had only inputted into their system at 3:29! It was now 3:45. Another 15 mins passed and we again approached the bar area to equire where our food was. At this stage, I spotted the waitress coming with the food. At 3:57, we received our food. We had ordered satay and what we got was a curry, loaded with spices and chillies, which was not enjoyable at all when you were expecting a mild sauce.
Our waitress again, even when it was pointed out that the dirty cups were not removed (we at this stage had put them on the next table as we were fed up looking at them) still left them there and it was a further 15 mins before they were taken at approx 4:15. She came down with our docket and stated that we had only order at 3:29. Again we emphasised and even showed her the call made on the phone, that OUR order was TAKEN at 3:15 and only inputted into THEIR SYSTEM at 3:29. No apology was offered, no token for our having to wait 45mins was offered. We had to pay full price for something that was no way near what it was described as on the menu.
Service was very bad, too long a wait for food, table not cleaned or dirty dishes taken away, food was just horrendous, overall, a terrible experience and one I am not likely to repeat.

The staff were very friendly the food was very good. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delciious. Rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable ours had 2 double beds. Nothing is too much bother and a great base to see the surrounding areas.
