“A 6 Star Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

We would have given 6 or 7 stars but couldn't. Ian, Marita and of course Jamie are exceptional hosts; we felt more like we were visiting family than staying at a B&B. It has been newly renovated throughout, very tastefully done with stunning views of Benbulben in the back and the bay and mountains in the front. They added many detailed touches, such as ramps for wheelie suitcases, towel warmers and a shower I wanted to take home. We spent 3 nights and I would highly recommend not having it be a place you "pass through" for a night. Take time to soak up the beauty and enjoy the many attractions around; excellent place as a hub for day trips. It's a superb area if you are a Yeats fan. We have stayed at many B&B's around the world and this is certainly one of the, if not the, best we've visited because of the hosts, accommodations and views. Marita is an outstanding cook who goes out of her way to give you what you would like. It's a bit out of town but that's why it is so peaceful and serene; good dining is less than 10 minutes away. The turns off N15 are signed but the one going north from Drumcliff can be missed. It's to the right ~1.5 km from Yeats Tavern marked "Castletown". This is a "don't miss" place that we would rearrange itinerary to visit. There is no doubt we will return.

Only 3 weeks after re-opening, this brand new B&B gives everything you want from a B&B, with the luxury of an at least triple priced Hotel. Ian as host, Jamie the little clown and Marita unfortunately only a short time, gave us all the attention and advise you need to spend a week were we only stayd two days on our end of may trip. And when I say luxureous I mean luxureous.
A big room, kingsize beds, a spacious bathroom with a shower tuned perfect between comfort for the guests and responsibility for the environment. And at the end of the day when the byrds become silent, you only hear water floating down only disturbed by a single car or truck on the N 15 a few miles miles down the hill. Last but not least, with the other guest the breakfast talks were great fun supported by a well balanced (;-) breakfast at your choise.

I just returned from my first trip to Ireland. One of the places I chose to stay was Benbulben Farm in Drumcliff. Our hosts, Ian, Merita, and Jamie were fantastic. The house is absolutely wonderful in every way. It's just been renovated, so everything is like new. The views are magnificent...the other guests are fun, breakfast is delicious. Everything was perfect! We went all over Ireland, but our stay at Benbulben Farm was most definitely the high point of the entire trip. I will be back, hopefully many times. Thank you Ian for doing a superb job taking care of us! :))

Room Tip: Room 2! Looks out over the Atlantic, with Benbulben Mountain just to the left. Wildlife everywhere...

The Benbulben Farm is located on the slopes of Benbulben Mountain. The farmhouse is really charming and cosy. We had a warm welcome with tea and shortbread in the living-room, which has a stunning view over Yeats country, Sligo Bay and Atlantic ocean. The hosts are a young family who runs the B&B in the second generation. Our room was light and big, tastefully furnished, quite and with the view over the lovely garden and Sligo Bay. The bathroom was light and big as well, but a little bit cold. Everything was clean and designed with loving attention to detail.
The breakfast was delicious, we had freshly baked scones, traditional Irish Breakfast and a really nice chat with the host. She gave us some good tips for our next destinations.

This lovely farm B&B is right under Benbulben Head in the heart of Yeats Country. We stayed here for a night 12 years ago and visited again in late August 2012. Our room was comfortable and had a gorgeous view down to Sligo Bay. There is ample parking, a comfortable sitting room for guests, brochures about local sites, and wifi. The front garden was filled with lovely flowers. Our hostess gave us advice about things to see and a place to have dinner. Breakfast the following morning was very good with plenty of variety. We enjoyed a chat with our host and admired their adorable little boy. Highly recommended. (I took the photo of Benbulben from the car park beside the house.)

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the house for the best view.

Benbulben Farm B&B is set between mountain and sea. You will be pleased by the immaculate condition of your room, its new and lovely accessories, the assistance of your host and hostess, not to mention the exquisite countryside with views of both Benbulben and Sligo Bay. In season, the calla lilies and other flowers abundantly display their beauty on the grounds of this B&B which are also lovingly tended. You will be served a full Irish breakfast in the morning, individually prepared and catered to your taste. This lovely place near Sligo is a wonderful opportunity for you to enjoy the rich Irish countryside, especially while on a road tour of the western and northern parts of Ireland and Northern Ireland. If you see white dots on the mountainside, they are the sheep eating that green, green grass for which the Emerald Isle is renowned.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view and be certain to zero in on this B&B's exact location beforehand...

I spent 5 nights at Benbulben Farm in early June. The breakfasts were superb! One of my favorite places out of my 90-day journey in Ireland. Pleaceful and beautiful. The views from my room were stunning of the bay, the ocean and the distant mountains. The bed was comfortable, too.

Marita and Ian were great with giving me places I should see in the surrounding area, and if you are a fan of hiking, I'd put this on the number one list....Benbulben is right there! Frankly, I cannot think of one thing that would deter me from staying here again.

I suppose if you want more shopping and want to be in a town/city setting, this isn't the place for you. You have to drive down one of Ireland's famously small roads to get there, but once you are there it's a lovely, lovely place. But there are no TVs in the rooms, which was just fine with me (one in the common room though).

They are planning to remodel the B&B, and I tried to talk them into keeping the lovely tiled bathroom. It was unique...not your "average" shower stall, etc. Hopefully, others will encourage them to keep the unique flavor.
