“Superb Room”

Capella Castlemartyr

Feb 20, 2008

The decor is superb in this 5 star, as is the service and the food. The bar is stocked with wonderful whiskies and other spirits not always seen in a regular bar. The deluxe room was fantastic. Excellent size and seriously comfortable bed. The interior decor and in particular the soft furnishings were some of the best we've seen anywhere. The bathroom was wonderful. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and the horse and carriage is a nice touch.
The facial I had was very good, if pricey.
We had only one complaint - while the breakfast was good, it was not the five star standard we expected and that we have experienced in other five star hotels.
However, we would certainly visit again.

We spent the weekend there at the beginning of January this year, we were totally blown away by the staff. From the moment we arrived we were made feel like nothing was a problem. The facilities in the Hotel & Spa are superb. We spent Saturday afternoon in the Spa Suite, a private treatment room with jacuzzi and sauna. We also got a couple of massages in there too which were excellent. Definitely a five star experience with a little bit more. Can't wait to visit another Capella Hotel soon.

“Really lovely experience”

Capella Castlemartyr

We stayed here at the end of November on what was a wet and windy weekend. The hotel only opened in August and when we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who promptly showed us to our room. We were not shown where anything else was in the hotel which was a pity nor was anything pointed out to us. As the hotel is on hundrends of acres I feel a map would have been useful (they may have these but we were not given one in our welcome pack).

The room was fabulous (deluxe room in the main building). The bed was extremely comfortable and the decor was sumptuous. The marble bathroom was lovely (I want it at home!). I really liked the free refreshment centre which stocked bottled water and soft drinks - a lovely touch.

They had a big corporate event on the weekend we were there which meant we could not dine in the main dining room on the first night. They set up a table for us in the living room - initially this was a bit off putting as we were only one of two couples there but they looked after us so well it was actually quite nice. The food was delicious. We ate in the dining room the following night and the food was of a very hight standard again.

Breakfast was a tad amusing. We had 4/5 staff serve us but we still had to ask for milk and butter!! Everyone was very attentive and genuinely wanted to help. I had an omelet with was the best omelet I have ever eaten. It was so good I had it again the next morning (room service this time though!)

The spa is fantastic - I loved the swimming pool.

They have dogs to walk, a horse a carriage around the grounds and golf but as the weather was so bad we stayed in the hotel and totally relaxed.

The friendly and welcoming staff and the surrounds definately mean we will return again.

The hotel was only open about 2 months, but is settling in very well. The staff are very well trained but some are not fully relaxed in their roles. The hotel is extreemly well equipped as per the other reviews. In particular the food is very good, but don't expect reasonable prices....but hay your worth it...... The hotel is set in lovely grounds with an 18 hole golf course still under development - 9 holes are open. The pool and spa facilities are very well finished but we never got round to using the spa. The overall hotel finish is to a very high standard but the colour scheme could be best described as Very Beige! The rooms are lovely and warm but the main hotel was a bit on the cool side. I suspect this is just a teething problem as the staff and management are very commited to getting things right.

Overall we were very happy and would recomend a return.
