We stayed in their townhouse, which is basically just a house between other houses about 500-600 meters away from the actual hotel. It's new, clean and nice, but also misses a bit of the atmosphere for which you would come to Casey. Also I found it a bit overprice (150euro) for what you get. Nice is that we found some fresh bread on our doorhandle in the morning (we prepared them for the lunch). Anyhow, if you want a good place to stay and you don't have the smallest budget, this is probably a good place to stay in Baltimore.

“Old Fashioned Irish Charm was like a trip back in time”

We arrived in Glengarriff without hotel reservations while driving the West coast of Cork. Glengariff is a lovely town, perfect for touring the Ring of Beara, and the Healy Pass. We popped into Casey's Hotel after seeing it on the main road in the center of the village. They offered very reasonable rates for a double room with en suite accommodations. The property has a lovely dining room and also a cosy pub that serves meals. It had a patio garden in which drinks can be served. There are also several pubs across the street and along the road which made for a fun evening of strolling and visiting with the friendly locals.

Our room was spotlessly clean, and had the old fashioned charm which we were looking for. We had a view to the garden of the hotel from our window and were in the back of the hotel, so noise was not an issue. A full Irish breakfast was served in the main dining room and was included in our room rate of 45 Euro per person. There is not an elevator (in case that is an issue for some travelers). We loved using the old fashioned brass key to unlock our room (yes--a real key hole!) and felt that this just added to the feeling that we had stepped back in time.
This is a family run hotel that has been in operation since the 1880's and reminded us of times gone by. It appeared that local residents were dining in the hotel when we were there as they were familiar with each other and the staff. In fact, it seemed we were the only non-Irish people staying there...so we felt very removed from the more touristy locales on our itinerary. It was not modern, fancy or glitzy--but you will not have any doubt you are sleeping in Ireland while staying here..which in this age of look-a-like franchises, is getting harder to find at the budget level of accommodations. We loved it!

“Stunning Views”

Casey's of Baltimore

Wow! I've just returned from a trip to Baltimore and it was one of the best short breaks I've had in a long time. My boyfriend and I stayed in Caseys and would recommend it to everyone. It is set looking over a lough and so the views are breathtaking, and the landscape unspoilt. The beergarden captures all of the view and is really tranquil and peaceful. The hotel itself is very trad downstairs with all mod cons required on the upper floor. The room was a decent size with a very spacious bathroom/shower area. Unfortunately we didn't have a sea view but I think most rooms do.
We eat in the restaurant later that night because we had heard a lot of good reviews and we weren't disappointed. The food was unbelievable, I've never had or tasted sea food like it. We had the seafood platter and plaice served with fries that were cooked in beef fat so they were like chip shop chips but to restaurant standard. The platter looked as good as it tasted. Dessert was lovely too, a very big selection. We finished the night by having a drink in the bar where we were entertained by a trad session. It was as I said a short trip but a very memorable one. We will definitely return to Baltimore and Casey's will be our first preference. Loved it!

“Wonderful hotel”

Myself and my boyfriend stopped in Baltimore in the quiet season! However, the hotel was lovely. We had a gorgeous view of the inlet and the room was really big and comfortable. We chose the pub menu which was delicious and the breakfast of scrambled eggs and salmon was the best of our holiday. The staff were really helpful, gave us a local guide and generally made it a very nice stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone :)

“Average hotel, not as good as we hoped for.”

Casey's of Baltimore

Had heard lots of good stories about Caseys before we stayed there. It may be the end of a long season for them and maybe the chef was on holidays but the food certainly was not great. Ordered homemade fries as a side order and these were not homemade, completely undercooked, and dripping in oil. The vegetables that came with the main course were limp and overcooked. The coffee at breakfast - it was like water it was so weak. The full irish breakfast was also dripping in oil.

The staff were friendly but when eating they were really rushing us - asking for our order when we were still looking at the menu. Barely had we placed our cutlery on the table and the plates were whisked away. The restaurant was not full, so no need to be that efficient!

The room was a fine size and had nice views, it was clean, but the bathrooms do need redecorating.
