The Local fish shop downstairs, our sole provider of fish is also owned by the family. This ensures an excellent supply of the freshest fish in the South West. Where possible fish is sourced locally from the coops and trawlers of the South Western ports. “Charming space, delicious seafood.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

We were welcomed by friendly staff, although we arrived a little late in the evening. The wine was excellent and the menu offered loads of locally caught options done in interesting ways. Food was fresh and delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. A great place to visit for anyone, and a must for lovers of seafood. There were four in our party and everyone was more than satisfied.

“What a great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant was recommended and I was not disappointed. The food was excellent. I had mussels, prawn stir fry and creme brûlée. A thoroughly enjoyable meal in a lovely cosy atmosphere. A place to enjoy with friends and loved ones.

“Following the Crowd”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

We found ourselves in Bantry around lunch time on a Tuesday. With the help of TA, we knew where to go. On the main street, and up some rickety stairs, was this bustling little restaurant. We got the next to last table, and throughout the lunch hours the place was packed with happy locals.
I had a daily special of crab cakes and my wife the deep fried calamari. The former was splendid, the latter a little less so. A dessert of fresh fruit cocktail brought smiles to both of us.

The welcome was friendly and gracious. This is a very well run little local establishment laser focused on quality local seafood. Other options are available. We took a brief look at the craft beers and wine selection, both of which were interesting. Since we still had some time on the road, we settled for sparkling water.

Since most of our guide books are printed and behind the time curve, it is good to know that TA can keep us tuned in to options not yet found by the professional critics. An enjoyable meal, thanks to TA. It was a bit cramped, but we don;t mind being in the company of other discerning diners. Bathroom facility, out in the hallway, is a little basic.

“Great dinner!”

Yummy fish, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Better to book ahead as it was busy.
The scallops were the winner.

had a wonderful meal here and couldn't resist the yummy creme brulee even tho I was quite full - nice relaxed atmosphere and buzzy kitchen - if only you could get fish this fresh in London for this price!
