“Best campsite in the world?? Probably”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

We have been staying in Mannix Point for over seven years, usually a few times a year and can't get enough of it. It's the most scenic campsite we have ever stayed in regardless of weather. Mortimer and his staff go out of their way to be helpful and always have a ready smile. The facilities are kept very clean and the campers kitchen is very well equipped. The campers lounge is a music session just waiting to start, and over the last few weeks the music has been taken outdoors around a fire....great nights. The two 'grumpy old men' must have been 'off' any time we were there.

We are now retired and have been camping all over Europe for most of our lives. This wonderful summer prompted us to stay in Ireland. We enjoyed the hospitality and facilities in many fine campsites, whose standards have improved greatly since we first set out.
It was with great anticipation that we arrived in Mannix Point. Prices were slightly above the average that we had paid in other sites so we expected that facilities would be also above average. However, while the pitches are adequate,'The welcome' was wonderful and campers kitchen and 'lounge' were a great facility, the toilets/showers left a lot to be desired. The ceilings look like they are about to fall in, cubicles were small and were frankly not properly cleaned (7pm) and the shower cubicles were positively dirty(7pm). I would expect that at the price charged, that they could be kept hygienically clean all day. We used them again in the morning and they were still grubby. They are old and shabby and could do with a VERY good clean(at the very least). Very disappointed.

Where do I start? We spent a great week here,Pat, Mortimer and the staff could not have done more to make us feel so welcome. The site is fantastic, with a splendid view of Valencia (and beautiful sunsets too!) The site facilities are spot on, good showers, campers lounge and superb campers kitchen. There is a "gypsy" caravan and gazebo next to the communal BBQ. It is a short walk to local super market. Cahirsiveen is a 20 minute walk away with pubs/cafes craft shops etc. We easily cycled to the Valentia ferry in 30minutes (two adults and a 7 and 10 year old)
Mannix point is a special place in a spectacular location, put it on your bucket list!

Spent four great days at manix point last week. The weather was wonderful which made the trip even better! The owner and staff were all very helpful and made us most welcome and the facilities were very clean. We especially liked the music played into the toilets/shower rooms! We will definitely be back, it's one of the best sites in Ireland, if not THE best!!!

This was our second time at Mannix Point and as before we had a lovely time. This is a beautiful campsite. It is very well run. The staff are all friendly and approachable. The toilets and showers are very clean with classical music playing. The scenery is fantastic with views of Valentia Island.
This year we had fantastic weather so sat outside each night and didn't use the kitchen or living room. It was very quiet at night which meant we got plenty of sleep we hasn't always been the case on other campsites. We will definitely be back.

The view from the campsite is amazing. The pride in the place is evident with the beautiful flowers, classical music in the bathrooms, hot showers, great kitchen. Lovely sitting room and washing facilities, very welcoming.

Piece of advice stay longer - its so relaxed thanks - Pat & Mortimer!

After reading the reviews of Mannix Point we decided to stay there while visiting the very sunny south west..... OMG !!!! I never believed there'd be a campsite on par with the best in mainland Europe, it's got everything bar the aqua park, but with the Atlantic on your door step the only limit is your imagination.
The welcome previous reviewers spoke of is real and tangible, fantastic flower display at reception. the campers kitchen and rec room are wow, toilets clean and facilities for motor home users are easily accessed.
The campsite was spotless, our pitch was 20 meters from the sea with fantastic views of valentia isl and beginish isl, surrounded by fantastic mountain ranges.
We got some great advise from a young man who worked there on kayaking, we kayaked out to a local blue flag and beginish island.
Nights were quiet and with only kids laughter and playing to be heard. A real treat for the small ones.... and bigger ones are the crepes from the crepes van on site YUM!
The best irish campsite we've stayed on so far.
