“Waffle treat for children every summer. Yum Yum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

We go on holidays to Connemara every summer and without fail, every time we go into Clifden our children insist on having their special treat of Hot Chocolate and Waffles at "Upstairs Downstairs".
The staff are lovely and the children and ourselves can catch up on our emails.
Highly recommend a visit..

“Good food - but no atmosphere!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

While shopping in the quaint little town, stopped in Upstairs Downstairs for a quick bite of lunch. Had a fabulous turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing sandwich!!! However, the restaurant itself lacks any kind of appeal. Atmosphere, of any kind, is non-existent.

“Our daily fix!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

I thought that when I was here in Connemara I would have to go without my daily cappuccino. I have a machine at home and make it just how I like it.

After a sleepless night on the ferry and a long, long drive we arrived a little dishevelled and weary in Clifden. We planned a brief stop at a supermarket to stock up on essentials before we continued on to find our cottage near Cleggan. We spotted Upstairs Downstairs on the main street, pulled in to parking spot in front of the shop and went in. What a find! I had a large cappuccino with an extra shot, it was a really good cup of coffee. We ended up going in every morning for coffee and one of their gorgeous cakes. We'd sit at an outside table with our little dogs and just watch the world go by before setting out for a day of exploring. It's a really lovely little cafe and they do good sandwiches as well as cakes and great coffees.
