“A gem in the crown of clifden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013 via mobile

We took the scenic route home from Westport and decided to stop here for a bite to eat. We will be back! Staff were so friendly and polite. Window display of cakes and breads was so inviting. When we walked in I was so impressed with the place as it was so bright and inviting. I had a toasted sandwich and my partner had the midi breakfast and the were only too delighted to substitute eggs with sausages as he is not a lover of eggs. We finished off our lunch with a cream bun and a Rice Krispie bun, to die for.
When we take our annual trip through Connemara we will most definitely be stopping here for lunch.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

My wife and i were in Clifden on Saturday afternoon last and decided to go for a light lunch. The town was very quiet but we had spotted a nice pub on our walk around the town and decided to go there for lunch. On the way to the pub we passed Walsh's Bakery it looked very inviting and seemed quiet busy so we decided to go there instead.Nice display of breads and pasteries as we came in and good selection of salads and panini's on the blackboards. We decided to go for two salads, I ordered a brie salad but was told they didn't have any brie, and was offered a mozzarella salad instead but i went for the chicken ceasar. We had a cappuccino and an americano which were average at best.I forget which actual salad my wife ordered but it was very simular to mine when it arrived.
Two huge bowls of lettuce virtually all of which was oak leaf with some old brown bits of iceberg thrown in.There was what can only be described as carrot peelings, the cheapest most processed (plastic) cheese I have ever tasted as well as big chunks of fatty greasy bacon obviously left over from breakfast. Both salads only had some salad dressing on top so when that was gone you were left with a bowl of dry salad leafs and the rest!
We would have been more than happy to pay 19.90 for two salads had they been of a good standard. These salads were far from good.We paid 24.60 for our two salads and coffees and left very disappointed.

A great spot for afternoon tea in this lovely town. Fine baking and cakes and a very good looking snack menu.

“Have the cream slice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Even after a delicious breakfast, we always find ourselves here for coffee when in Clifden. Lovely food and a good view. The bakery counter as you enter is a feast for the eyes.

Dear Izzywizz 8, Thank you for posting your comments here. It is really great to hear from a return visitor to our coffee shop, and a recommendation for our cream slice sits close to my heart, as it is my favorite as well. All our pastries are baked in our Bakery situated one floor below the Coffee Shop & Cake Shop, so I am forever being tempted. Say hi when you visit again.

Best wishes,
