“What a place!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

My self and my family stayed in this great family run hotel for 3 nights. We were very presently surprised with warm welcome , great food and lovely new rooms(which had wifi!!). Great breakfast every morning served by young friendly staff who were very helpful in helping us plan our days. Ate in the restaurant 2 nights and it was brilliant, it was great value and loved the live music. We will be back.

Room Tip: Superior front rooms well worth the extra cost

Had 3 fab nights here in July - 4 travellers; 3 of us had never been to Ireland before. Hotel staff extremely friendly & very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were very clean & tidy. Hotel was full but surprisingly quiet :-) Lovely full Irish breakfast served every morning with fresh coffee plus cereals & pastries. Would definitely stay here again & would recommend the Alcock & Brown to anyone wanting a great place to stay in Clifden. Can't wait to go back :-D

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quietest - especially on Friday / Saturday nights ;-)

We stayed here for a hen party on a Saturday...there were over 20 of us and they could not have been more helpful. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was lovely.
Rooms were perfect - very clean and beds were comfy.
We were a bit of a wild bunch but they made us feel very welcome and were so helpful throughout the whole stay!
I would definitely recommend clifden and this hotel for a hen party we had the best craic and was certainly a weekend to remember!

Hotel is alright, and a good enough for a night. We were at the back of the hotel beside an air con vent which made a continuous hum. Room and corridor smelt a little musty. No wifi in rooms. Get a room at the front for the view.
Tea and coffee making facilities - but an extension lead would have been good as the kettle lead is very short and a tight stretch to the only 2 sockets in the room. Small bathroom & shower but plenty of hot water.
The hotel is dated but the location is perfect - right in the middle of Clifden. It does need a bit more TLC however, slight rust stains on shower wall from bathroom fittings, rough woodwork around bathroom doors etc - it seems well cleaned but these small things give an impression that it could be maintained better.
Check out is 11am and the on street parting at the side of the hotel was free until 11am. Full Irish Breakfast was very nice.

Room Tip: front on top (third?) floor

Hi Jason and thank you for your review. Sorry we did not hit all the right notes with you but hopefully these things did not affect your stay too much. Just a few points to clarify though. Firstly there is actually wifi in all the rooms - I wonder did your devise have a connection problem ? Secondly I think the air con unit you refer to is a fan extraction unit from the kitchen. It switches off every night at 10pm. I am not aware of any noise that continues through the night. I must also look at the kettle lead in that room to ensure it is long enough - thanks for pointing that out. Regards, Declan.

We dropped in with our 10 year old and our parents for a quiet drink and to listen to some live music. Although the place was quiet (it was only 8pm) we really enjoyed ourselves. The music (duo) was perfect (mix of Irish and soft country) and the staff were very friendly. It is a large venue so when it gets busy I would imagine it really pumps - very much recommended:)

We stayed here on our first night in Ireland. I booked mostly B&Bs but for this first night thought I would like to stay in a hotel as I thought we would be more comfortable. It was a good pick. My kids were happy to have a triple room that featured three single beds. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel was quiet despite being on a busy square. You are right in the middle of town so it's easy to walk to restaurants and pubs. The showers were good and we all got a great nights rest to rejuvenate for the days ahead. I say it is average because it wasn't particularly special, but it was just what we needed.

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights and had a blast. The little hotel was always buzzing and the staff were always up for a bit of banter. I really enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and spacious. We didnt have a view of the town but we didnt request one so we didnt mind. We ate in the restaurant both nights, listening to the live trad music. Believe me you wouldnt want to go anywhere else! Ive told all my friends- it's the place to go.
