“Highlight of our trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2011

I have to say that Mary is charming and delightful! The rooms are clean and comfortable, the hospitality is gracious and genuine, and the location is excellent. We will definitely return and plan to spend several nights. Mary's rendition of Danny Boy brought tears to our eyes, and only the threat of missing the ferry in Rossaveel could tear us away from talking longer with our delightful host.

Mary gave us great tips on where to eat supper, and things to see...our list for next time is bursting. In my humble opinion, you can't go wrong here, if you have an open spirit and a genuine interest in experiencing Ireland at it's finest.

The guest house offers good parking and is a short walk to Clifden town. Mary, the hostess is a musically talented and very personable... she serenades guests at the end of breakfast service. The guest house is clean and offers a unique B&B experience.

This Bed & Breakafst was far too expensive, despite being told by the lady of the house that she wasn't "robbin' me": 50 euro per night for one person. Also, the shower was unusable. That's not satisfactory.

The lady of the house seemed insincere to me. Her demonstration of hospitality was belaboured and exaggerated.

We checked into this B & B and met the daughter of the Innkeeper. She was so sweet and charming. After check - in, we wandered around Clifden which is literally within easy walking distance. Clifden - I was not too wild about but the surrounding area is GORGEOUS. Please do not leave until you drive along Sky Drive. It is some of the most beautiful scenery in all of Ireland. The surrounding area of Conemarra is so beautiful that is was hard to pick what we liked the best. Anyway, we walked back to the Inn after looking around Clifden and met Mary - the Innkeeper. She is so funny and friendly and warm. She made sure we were comfortable and knew our way around the area. The room is okay - It was spacious and the bathroom was big also. The beds were okay and at this time we were the only ones at the Inn so noise was not a problem. Breakfast was good the next morning as was the company of Mary. We were leaving that day so she gave us advice of what roads to take to our next destination. She sang for us and it was so pretty. She is very personable and and is very interested in your life also. I would recommend this place.

My friend and I went to Mary because we had read good reviews about her on the internet.

Our stay was great, the room and the bathroom were clean, Mary spent a lot of time with us talking, singing, playing instruments. It was only my friend, Mary and I in the room and we had a wonderful time together, sharing life experiences and Irish information.

Definitely my friend and I can say that exchanging with Mary was one of the highlights of our trip ! This is one of those moments you cherish and remember all your life when you'be been lucky to have a warm moment with a local like this.

This is the best b&b we stayed at in Western Ireland. Your hostess Mary greets you with exuberance and song. You know from the get-go that one night is not enough. Mary's charm, lively character and know of the land guide you into a world of fun, fantasy, and friendship. The light gets even brighter if you are lucky enought to meet her mom and dad, Bridget and John. Bridget is a master poet who takes you into an Irish world of rhyming myth, legend, and folklore. John will entertain you with his magical tricks that leave you in awe and spellbound, yearning for more. But let's not stop there. Mary and her daughter Olivia will sing their way into your heart with the most graceful songs of yesterday, long ago. Visit old world chivalry at the Connemara Country Lodge Bed and Breakfast!

We were a group of four: myself, my partner and my parents - who we took on vacation with us for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. We stayed with Mary at her lovely home where she made us feel right at home - as though we were part of the family. The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of space, but what made our stay so enjoyable was Mary herself. She is a warm and friendly host with a great sense of humor and a wonderful voice (she sang for us during breakfast - what a beautiful experience). The only downside of our stay was that we only had one night to spend with Mary! Next time we will definitely schedule more time in Clifden, and we will surely stay with Mary. Thanks so much, Mary!
