“Very accomodating, but not friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2011

We were at this hotel as part of a short leisure trip to Ireland. The room (a junior suite) was comfortable, clean, and quiet and the hotel is located right in the heart of town. The gym equipment was good and it was one of the nicest hotel pools I have seen in quite some time.

The only non-positive thing we can say is that the staff, while very accomodating, was not friendly. They seemed more concerned with the hotel than with the guests. Still, all in all it was a pleasant experience and we would stay there again.

This hotel deserves to be one of the best small hotels in the world. I concur with all good things said about the hotel. The hospitality is the best I have ever experienced. I stayed in a Junior suite which was lovely. Had a massage from Fiona in the small spa--very nice. The Christmas program was delightful--mostly older people for Christmas, slightly younger for New Years. 3 things I didn't like. They don't have kettles in rooms, but rather insist upon free room service delivery of tea. If staying for a weekend, that is very nice, but for an extended stay, it is an intolerable disservice. One wants to quench one's thirst when thirsty, not have to wait for room service. Also, it is not hospitable to put the guest in the position of wondering if they should tip every time they are thirsty. Next, the food is usually quite good/excellent but extremely fatty. Again, won't be noticed for a weekend stay, but any longer and your take home souvenir will be a much bigger waist. They offer healthier options at breakfast but need to do the same for dinner. One lady asked for her vegetables to be replaced with veggies without the cream sauce, and the waiter told her she would have to wait till vegetables were cooked especially for her because all the cooked vegetables were already sauced. Several times people asked for salad and were told, "OK, but it's going to be a fight with cook!" My sauteed breakfast fish arrived awash in oil. Third dislike: ladies especially complained of the too cool pool temperature.

Be sure to make reservations--the hotel/restaurant sometimes is open to private guests only. Also, be patient with the small lobby--a lot happens there...hotel reception, wedding pictures, cocktail parties, sportsmen going and coming...just smile...it's Ireland and everyone is friendly!

*****5 stars for this little hotel gem! Despite my dislikes, I was treated better here than at any hotel I have ever stayed in, bar none!*****

I recently stayed at the Dunraven Arms Hotel for two nights, as it was recommended by a friend. I could not have asked for a better break. Everthing was perfect!Every single member of staff at all levels were courteous, engaging, friendly, and could not be helpful enough! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left I could not fault a single thing. I will definitely be returning. Also, the beds at this hotel are absolutely gorgeous, I dont think I have ever had a better nights sleep.I also ate in the restaurant on one night, as an evening meal was included in the cost of our stay, and we ended up eating there our second night also, as the food was just amazing. Adare is a beautiful village anyway, but staying in such a gorgeous hotel made our stay simply perfection.

Stayed here on a special offer break with two young children. Hotel and staff were excellent to deal with and very accomodating and flexible.

we had dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was excellent on both occasions. Really very high quality food. Service excellent. Kids looked after and nothing was too much trouble. The staff could hardly do enough to help, even the owner, who was on hand for almost the entire time we were there and personally served our son his desert!

A truely great, family friendly hotel. WIll rush back.

We statyed in the Dunraven Arms Hotel on a two night family room "special". The price inclued one evening meal and 2 nights bed and breakfast. We were waiting a long time to get served at the evening meal and orderd a small bowl of pasta (plain pasta - no sauce or meat) plus ice cream (2 scoups of vanila) for desert for our child (4yrs). When we checked out we were presented with an additional bill of €11.50 plus a service charge of €1.44 for the "extra childs meal" We spent over €400 for our stay and the manager insisted that we pay the "extra" cost for the child's meal. We paid reluctantly!! In this recesson it is no wonder that hotels are closing down if they are treating customers like this.

Just a one night stay but everything was very good. Room large and very well appointed with a view of the garden. Excellent bathroom and superb beds. Dinner was very good and the roast beef was of the quality of the old Saddle Room in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. Great value for money and what a superb location! Adare village is lovely and steeped in history.
Good front of house, good management team in the Restaurant but the old fashioned problem of some staff who do not understand English very well.
Breakfast was buffet style but nothing was any bother and poached eggs were well produced. We will be back!

Stayed on a one night pamper package for our anniversary. Couldn't have chosen a better spot. My massage therapy was totally relaxing, in elegant surroundings-a perfect start to the evening.
The food and service in the restaurant were second to none. The beef has to be tasted to be believed! Even though the hotel was very busy on the night the staff were very friendly and efficient. I got the impression that nothing would have been a problem.
Would never have known I was sleeping in a hotel-didn't hear a sound!
