“Great for the family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We stayed at the Villas, family of six. Nice and spacious but renters before us must of fried onions before they left, our villa smelled, house keeping came and sprayed but wasn't til I bought and sprayed fabreeze that smell went away. We had tea at Manor and it was quite an experience being that we are from Miami. Some of us went golfing and to spa, it was nice but the fly fishing was a rip off. The place is beautiful and we would stay again.

In brief - Adare is a spectacular spot, beautiful grounds and golf course. Castle is stunning albeit needs some tlc in the more common areas. We expected a high standard in the townhouses but were very disappointed. 80s styling inside, a bit grotty, no duvets and 'bally' old blankets and bedspreads.

When was the last time you went to a 5-star resort and didn't get a nice crisp white duvet? Not here I'm afraid.

When we got there, we couldn't believe the entrance and the grounds. Just stunning! Then we drove around the corner and there it was - a real castle! It is just breathtaking. Our 4-year old was like "wow, wow, wow!" The reception was excellent, the room was just HUGE and beautiful old style. We could fit a family of 5 there! Dinner was great and excellent service. One of our servers was from Romenia and was extremely nice and friendly. The food was great! We went down to the bar area where they had live Irish music which was great! Everything seemed perfect until the next morning when my husband realized he had forgotten his jacket with his wallet at the bar. When we asked if someone had found it, the reception desk promptly gave it to us. When my husband opened his walled, we were surprised to find out that someone had stolen 60 euros! We quickly told the hotel management who didn't seem very helpful at first. After a few hours, the security manager came to talk to us and he said that had never happened in 15 years or so. He tried to help and interviewed the staff to understand what had happened but of course, our money was never "found". Anyway, we were there for 2 nights and really enjoyed everything except for this little incident.

The Adare Manor is a gorgeous hotel with incredible grounds and gardens. It truly may be one of the most beautiful hotel gardens and park area I have ever experienced. The staff is very friendly and works very hard to accommodate guests needs. We fly fished in the river that runs through the property and my daughter rode horses to castle ruins! We stayed in a suite that was very large (two full beds and large sitting area) with a large bathroom. Our room was a bit shabby chic (furniture was a bit faded and warn) but all in all great experience. Neal, Adele and Lee (fishing guide) were real stand outs among the staff.

Room Tip: We had a suite facing the river and golf course and it was very nice.

What a magnificent hotel. Could not recommend this hotel enough. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and most accommodating. You would not be disappointed with The Adare Manor. A wonderful history to a beautiful hotel. The grounds are worth the walk. We will be back already looking forward to our next stay.

Like many others, we booked our adare manor vacation through groupon and stayed in the villas. Based on the reviews, we had high expectations. They were more than met.

Villas - huge and well appointed. Very comfortable, especially for the American traveller. Albert, the concierge, was very helpful.

Manor tour - overpriced but informative. €20 is really steep, but if you add on the high tea option, it's much better. High tea runs €27.50 by itself but runs only €15 when added to the tour.

High tea - such refined fun! The food was mostly sweets (I expected more finger sandwiches) but it was great. The scones were the best I've ever had.

Falconry and hawk walk - truly a life experience. I was a little nervous because it is expensive, but it was worth every cent. Juergen, the falconer, was a treat. Passionate, informative, fun...and working with the Harris Hawk right in front of the manor was magical.

Especially at the price we paid through groupon, this place was unforgettable.
