“Crisp, Clean and Wonderfully Snug”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

Every positive comment written about this B & B is absolutely true. The proprietors, Ailene and Orla, are warm, gracious and truly genuine. Their B & B is snugly tucked into Kinsale, close to all the town has to offer. Our room was crisp and clean, with small touches that made it truly welcoming...a home away from home. Ailene and Orla are helpful with restaurant and activity recommendations, and even assisted us in planning the route to our next destination. Finally, everyone loves to hear about breakfast, and believe me, Ailene is a great cook. I can still taste the homemade scones and muffins! Thank you ladies for a wonderful experience.

This B&B was great. Aileen and Orla are perfect hostesses and wonderful cooks. After many days of traditional Irish breakfasts in other B&Bs, we were thrilled to have yummy pancakes for a nice change. Besides providing a wonderful place to stay, these gals are great travel agents as well. They know Kinsale's charming locations and gave us great advice for other must see places in the vicinity. I highly recommend this B&B.

Orla and Aileen at The Cloisters in Kinsale, were absolutely charming hostesses. We arrived after a two hour drive in the rain and the ladies grabbed their umbrellas and helped us to unload our luggage. They welcomed us with coffee, tea and fresh scones, which was a lovely touch after the rain. Orla and Aileen took the time to introduce us to their town with maps and recommendations for the local restaurants and pubs. At breakfast, they apologized that there might be a bit of a delay for breakfast as all of the food was made fresh to order. The breakfast sideboard contained various cereals, breads, yogurt, fruit salad and juice. The menu for their hot breakfasts was extensive The ladies are excellent cooks and keen on detail. The food was wonderfully presented. One morning I ordered a bowl of porridge and it was delivered with a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream, because, as Orla said, I wasn't driving today. I must say that these ladies spoiled us for the rest of the trip. The location was excellent with parking spots beside the Cloisters as well as a large carpark behind the property. We stayed two nights in the extra large room with the double bed. The rooms are spotless and tastefully decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this delightful harbor town. This bed and breakfast is not to be missed.

Room Tip: We paid a premium for the larger room as we were staying two nights. It was nice to have the extra s...

Kinsale is a particularly lovely old Irish town that includes great walking tours with quaint streets and excellent restaurants and pubs. As with so many of the small towns in Ireland, it celebrates its “tidy town” awards for its cleanliness and décor. We found our way to the Cloisters thanks to excellent directions from the owners, Orla and Ailee. This is a town that sits on hills alongside an ancient seaport and very fort. We were pleased to find excellent parking alongside the Cloisters B and B—nestled tightly in the center of the “church” district. This allowed us to explore the town on foot for several days.

Orla and Ailee are wonderful gals whose wit and willingness to be helpful matched the excellent room we had, and very good food. We lacked nothing. They were particularly helpful in pointing us to some of the best restaurants in town and adjusting our itinerary after Kinsale. We would stay here again and we recommend a visit to Kinsale as a lovely town with important Irish history.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay in Kinsale at the Cloisters B&B. Our room was very spacious and a very comfortable place to relax after exploring this lovely harbor town. We could have spent a week here wandering the streets and trying out all the delicious looking restaurants and night spots. Aileen and Orla were perfect welcoming hosts and were able to recommend multiple restaurants and even had a chart of venues with local music for each night of the week. We ended up enjoying a brand new restaurant in town called the Black Pig. It had a wonderful wine selection and fresh local fare. We ended our evening at The Folk House, a lively pub where a great band called Rubicon was playing. After our great sleep in the quiet room, we were treated to a delicious breakfast. My husband's blueberry french toast was incredible. We loved our time in Ireland and will make our way back to Kinsale and Cloisters some day.

This was a great pick for this cute little town! We were so lucky to have booked a room here 10 days or so before we showed up. Aileen and Orla were wonderfully welcoming in this four-room B&B.. The location is just steps from the town (lots of restaurant, pub, and shop choices within just several blocks). Our room was in top-notch shape, from plumbing to bed to furnishings. Never did figure out where the switch was to turn on the bedside table lamps, but that wasn't really important. It's really nice that there's a parking lot just behind the building, too (street parking seemed to be a bit of a challenge during the Kinsale Arts Festival). If we ever make it back to Kinsale, there's no question where we'll want to stay.
