This was the first place my wife & I stayed in Ireland. We found the Olde Bakery b&b quaint, charming and peaceful. We asked to change rooms from the front to the back. This was done quickly with no fuss whatsoever. Our room opened up to the back of the house and was absolutely quiet. The only thing we could hear during the night was the gentle sound of water running down the rock cliff behind the property. Our room was small but tidy and well organized. We had a sink in the room and our private bathroom was located across the hall. There was plenty of hot water and fresh towels. The bathroom fixtures all looked new and everything in the house looked well cared for.
We left our car parked in front of the b&b and made our way around Kinsale on foot. We had dinner at the Blue Heron restaurant, which turned out to be a good selection for fresh seafood. The Kinsale Ghost tour was a good way to have fun and see the town with a group of fellow tourist. I highly recommend it.
Breakfast the next morning was served at the table in Chris's big kitchen. There seemed to be an endless variety of local artisan cheeses and fruits as well as a respectable selection of breakfast entries. Breakfast was plentiful and hearty. This was the biggest breakfast spread we encountered of the ten bed & breakfasts we stayed at. Chris pulled some home-made scones out of the oven just as we were finishing up with coffee. We stayed around the table for most of an hour and visited before checking out.
The only shortcoming I can mention is that our room would have been well served by more places to set things as we unpacked. We put most of our things on the floor. That being said, we probably stayed in the smallest room on the property.
Overall, we found our Olde Bakery b&b experience low-key and relaxing. Our hosts were hospitable and charming.
