My boyfriend and I stayed for just one night at this B&B last week. Our room was quite spacious with a sitting room and a jacuzzi tub. We were the only room on the first floor and were afraid it would be noisy, but it was not. We had a small hallway to enter before getting to our room and it was an excellent buffer to the foot traffic coming in and out of the B&B. We loved that all of the restaurants and shops were just a few blocks away - it was the perfect location for us seeing as how we had no car. We took the bus in from Cork. We arrived after dark and in the pouring rain and had a hard time navigating - I swear there are no street signs. So if you plan on doing that definitely call and get very specific walking directions from the bus stop. Once we found our way it was great to be in the center of town. The innkeepers were great about giving us walking directions and restaurant recommendations. We did the walk to Charles Fort through Summercover and highly recommend it! Overall the B&B was perfect for our one night in town. The Irish Breakfast was a great way to start out the day. And the Innkeepers were gracious enough to hold our bags after checkout so we could explore the town and not lug them all over.

This is a wonderful small hotel in a charming town. It is the perfect base to tour County Cork and Eastern Killarney. The Innkeepers are delightful and full of valuable tips, especially regarding local restaurants, among the best in Ireland.

The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. The breakfasts are exceptional. Free internet access is available and wireless too if you bring a laptop.

The hotel in a few steps from the center of town and they have a private car park.

The 11:15 walking tour (daily) is great as well as Charles Fort.

If you are tracing your Irish-American roots a trip to Cove (Cobh) near Cork will be memorable. It was the embarkation point for millions of immigrants going to America. A Heritage Center has been constructed with generous contributions from famous Americans and it is exceptional.

One suggestion; If you are mobility impared discuss room location when making reservations. Some of the rooms are on the 3rd flood and involve a climb.

The Old Presbytery was our third B&B in Ireland - all based on recommendations from Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Excellent location for walking about town and beyond. One of the highlights of our 16 days in Ireland was the Scilly walk from Kinsale to Charles Fort. The path through Summercove to the Fort is spectacular. Don't miss the opportunity to sit on the seawall and enjoy a drink from Bulman Bar! The Old Presbytery was the most expensive place that we stayed on our visit to Ireland but the price was worth the location.

We stayed int he Old Presbytery a single night during our trip to Ireland, as we made a last minute change to include a stop in Kinsale. The Old P was a good choice. We ended up with a spacious room that included a balcony with a nice town view, and a bath with jacuzzi. Our hosts were great about recommending things to do, and we very much enjoyed our breakfast (I had the traditional Irish breakfast with the black and white puddings and more, and it was among the best I sampled during the trip). The house itself was done with sort of fussy-victorian furnishings -- not my favorite, but very comfy for one night. The bed was great, and we got a good night's sleep.
Location was great -- the town and all the shops and pubs were right around the corner -- and there was free parking on site.
All in all, very much recommended.

What we, a family of 7, remember most about The Old Presbytery was its location in the "tidiest town" in Ireland. With just one van between us, it was important to us to be able to walk to sights and restaurants without worrying about sticking together or having to share the vehicle. Many well-reviewed B&B's in Kinsale have hill-top views but require a drive into town - that wouldn't have worked for us.

My husband and I were upgraded to a suite with a sitting room, and we appreciated its classy-but-not-filly decor. We felt badly when we saw that three of my in-laws took a triple room, which was considerably cramped for three adults and about 1/2 the size of our suite. We figured that the triple may be meant for a couple with a small child, not three adults. All of our rooms were spotless.

Breakfast was served in a pretty, sunny room with several yummy options including omelets and salmon. Free internet access was just off the breakfast room. We also enjoyed the old-world style sitting room just of the lobby.

So what was missing? Mainly, personalized service. The desk was staffed by a nice young woman who was not from Kinsale or even Ireland. She suggested a few restaurants but didn't describe any with detail, not being a local. This was one of the largest B&B's we stayed in, and that, I'm sure, has a lot to do with it, as the owners couldn't run it without help.

If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Kinsale, we will certainly stay in town and will keep the Old Presbytery on our short list of accomodations.
