“Boutique hotel in city center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

We visited Kinsale during the Gourmet Festival. This hotel was in a great location to all shops and restaurants with easy access to the water, and Scily walk and to all tourist attractions: Desmond Castle, St Multose Church, and Scily Walk. The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent and the nightly live music was an added bonus.

This was a very good hotel, and check-in was smooth, and no payment required upon checking-in. Friendly, smiling staff, lobby could have done with a hoovering, though!
Room was lovely, and we got a large double bed as we requested. Room was spotlessly clean, though curtains were a bit worn looking. Television was great. Lovely old-style furniture, and ensuite was fabulous. Shower was lovely, Agree with previous contributor re. the stairs and corridors. Bathroom was well-equipped with shower gels, shampoos etc. Breakfast was excellent, but I didn't particularly like the casual nature of having it served in the bistro. Felt like I was eating outside, and it was a bit dismal. However, overall, very, very good, and would be happy to recommend.

Just back from a few days stay at the Blue Haven Hotel and my wife and I were very impressed. The hotel is central to everything in Kinsale with a chemist and grocery store directly opposite. We stayed in a king room and it was clean, spacious and well decorated with antique furniture. We also had a meal on the first evening there and again were very impressed, for starters my wife had the crab, I had the chowder then we both had steaks for our mains. Only criticism was the full irish breakfast wasn't the best the sausage and bacon looked unappetising, however the next morning I had the french toast with bacon and it was very good. The live band in the bar was also very entertaining and the bar itself was very kept and decorated. The service and reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back when we visit Kinsale again.

Room Tip: There is no lift so if you have problems with stairs bear this in mind. I cannot comment on the stan...

Our room was fine, and the staff was informative, kind and helpful. We had nice breakfasts here, and enjoyed the pub. Kinsale is a cute town with lots of nice places. The staff at blue Haven helped guide us to the ones we enjoyed.

We arrived on Sunday to a lovely greeting from reception. Room was a good size, decor of stairs and corridors tired and in need of updating. Great ensuite. Location is the best feature of this hotel as it is in the center of the town.

My wife and I stayed there for an overnight to celebrate out 10th Anniversary. It was fine, but it's not super sharp. The breakfast the next day was really very good. The hotel bar had an excellent bad that night. They pour a proper Guinness. But the bed was just "fine" (rather than "ah-mazing") and the bathroom, while maybe only a few years old, showed signs of lazy workmanship - hence the tiles with cracking grout. The sink was broken and the person who reportedly arrived to fix it didn't get the job done so we brushed our teeth using the faucet in the tub. Little dumb stuff like that. It wasn't not a bad stay at all, so if it fits your budget, this place is safe and the staff was very friendly. And the central location is nice, too.
