“Amazing Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2011

My partner and I booked a stay at Inchydoney Lodge and Spa as we heard many great things about it and we knew it had a wonderful reputation as friends and family of ours had enjoyed magnificiant stays in the hotel. Overall our stay was excellent (the best hotel we have ever been to) but I would like to emphasize on how brilliant the staff were in Dunes (the hotel bar). We were waited on hand and foot and everyone of our needs we tended to. I would especially like to mention our waiter Kieran (O Regan?) who made our meal so enjoyable and even recommending the best dishes and beverages, Sean the barman for chatting and advsing us on the best bars in Clonakilty (the closest town) and manager Clodagh for her all round pleasant mood and helpfullness. Would recommend this hotel to anyone!! I will be back!!

Myself and my husband celebrated our wedding here on 26th March 2011, and we couldn't have asked for a better location and group of warm friendly people to help us prepare for our big day! We got engaged here 2 years ago and from that moment the whole way through to the wedding day itself, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, nothing was too much for them. A particular special 'thank you' to Amy, Julie and Peter for all your kind generosity & help over the past 2 years. As for the location and hotel itself, well, that is something that words cannot describe! It is by far the most luxurious hotel in Ireland and our taste of paradise. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived with the smallest of details being catered for. What stood out for us was the manner in which all staff carried themselves. Extremely courteous and friendly, completely professional and organised to perfection. We found the whole experience to be flawless. We loved the way the service staff did things a little different than other venues. The food was amazing and to perfection, our guests could not eat any more with the amount and variation served up. Our guests still rave about the hotel, its idyllic setting, the wow factor of the bedrooms, the service, the food and how impressive the bridal suite was. Overall the most memorable experience of our lives, wish we could do it all over again. Thanks for everything!!

Room Tip: All rooms are luxurious and overlook the magnificent beach and stunning scenery

I arrived very late after a delayed flight and even then the staff were most attentive. The room was spacious, modern and very very comfortable. I could see the sea from my bed, but there was a spacious balcony with outside furniture to just relax and watch and listen to the sea. Housekeeping is perfect as it is completely none intrusive and they even bring a weather report in the evening whilst you're at dinner with some scrummy home made chocolates left on a scallop shell to have with your evening coffee. Breakfast is a perfect as it can get with a massive variety of hot and cold (not forgetting the local black pudding) and with times from 0700 to 1100 what could be better if you've been enjoying a lovely evening and want a lie in. I enjoyed meals in both the Gulf Stream Restaurant and Dunes Pub on site, staff are completely wonderful and very well trained polite and nothing is too much trouble and as for the food......arrive very hungry portions are gargantuan but of extremely good quality they source most of the food locally and boy is it good. If you go for the seafood platter in Dunes do try to share to be able to do it justice.
I also used the spa during my stay and had a hot stone massage, brilliant.
English people may find it a little expensive but only because of the current exchange rate I would say it is completely worth every last Euro can't wait to save for another break.

Inchy Doney is a bit off the beaten path as it is not in Clonakilty, but rather it is south of the town on a small island/peninsula. However, the remoteness of the property is the real charm. On a nice day, the hotel boasts incredible views of the ocean from all of the public areas of the hotel, notably the breakfast room. The ocean is quality on the beachfront - many guests were learning to surf one morning during our stay.

Staff was excellent all around. We sat around the fireplace in the lobby (sadly it was cold that night - but the weather became nice quickly) and had drinks from the bar. it was incredibly cozy.

We went all over Ireland during this trip and this property was really unique due to the location. Would love to stay again and explore more of West Cork. Definitely stay in this hotel during your trip to the area - perfect getaway.

We are a family with 3 rascally boys and were a bit skeptical as to how it would all work out in this seemingly cliquish hotel. Any fears were allayed early on, as the staff was helpful and genuine and the hotel itself has its own character inside that sets it apart. Loads of fantastic art and furniture and a good mix of guest spaces to "explore" and hang out in (kids room, billiards, library, drinks lounge for all ages). Lovely bedrooms with an artistic flair that makes them more memorable than your average decent lodge. Great breakfast. And to top it off, the salt water pool is a pure delight - a fun experience for the kids and they have designated kids times twice during the day.

And as an added bonus, the sand quality (fine, white and clean feeling) is probably the best I've experienced in Ireland. We preferred the east beach over the more populated west beach (two choices!). And the hotel seems to put a lot of effort into making sure the beaches are rubbish free.

Great setting and character. And the staff was attentive like you'd expect from a 5-star resort, without being snooty. Thought we'd take several day trips to surrounding areas, but in the end didn't becasue it was such a pleasure staying around the hotel/beach.

Room Tip: request an upper floor (it's all about the views), east view preferred

Having used the spa on a number of ocassions we thought we would stay for a few days in July. From
The very first time we entered the hotel we were made to feel very welcome and valued.

The location of hotel is fantastic, set in a stunning headland with two beautiful beaches to each side.

The rooms are fantastic we were lucky enough to be on the 4th floor giving fantastic views over the beach. The balcony is a very nice place to sit in the evening with a book.

Breakfast and dinner have been superb. The best food we have had on this break has been in the hotel I would highly recommend dinner in the Gulfstream.

The management and staff have been excellent also nothing has been to much trouble for them. It's great to see people smiling at work.

Overall the three days we have spent at the hotel were fantastic. We will definitely be back.

A family treat plus a spa and relaxing swim over the week-end for the family.
A break away from dull boring routine could not have been better planned or taken.

Very warm welcome, friendliness beyond the call of duty, cleanliness and an genuine interest in their guests.

A very well thought out and user friendly spa and relaxation spacious areas; a charming sea water pool with many facilities. Everything within the facility has been arranged and planned so that all you need to bring is a costume and a comb!!
Relax and enjoy.

An enormous selection of treatments and potions. The experience is meant to give relaxation and it succeeds.

The Hotel is spacious, superbly sited and has commanding ocean views over white sandy beaches with sand dunes, great walks, plenty of wildlife, surfing and other pursuits. Inside you may escape into the residents lounge and balcony or some of the many hidden peaceful secluded areas.
A really stunning extensive menu with freshly prepared local produce and sea-food carefully presented in a peaceful sea view dining room.
A most interesting list of wines well worth casting an eye through.
If you really wish to indulge, the High Tea is perhaps one of the finest we have ever been offered anywhere with a superb selection of savouries and sweet things, all hand made with local produce of exceptional quality.
To summarise the experience, truly excellent on all points and one we will all wish to repeat and look forward to with great relish.
Our thanks to all at Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa, we loved every minute of our stay and shall return.

Room Tip: Top floor and facing the sea for the best view ever.
