“Per Christmas Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

We have just had the most enjoyable three day break at the Grand Hotel. The hotel has the most wonderful position overlooking the sea in Malahiide. The staff are a credit to the hotel, from the minute you arrive until you are leaving they can not do enough to make your stay a pleasureable and enjoyable time. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable. The food is excellent and a varied choice on the menu. We intend to return and hopefully the weather will be as kind as on this visit 11deg C and sunny in November ,

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the sea

Two night stay with dinner included in rate, upgraded to executive room , which was large and had a see view, lovely old hotel with new features , all the staff were friendly and polite , hotel quiet , but a five minute walk into the village , with three pub ,restaurants that look small from the outside , but go on and on inside , packed on the Saturday and Sunday evenings. That we were there, Had a lovely stay at hotel , and can't say a bad thing about it , so defiantly will return

Room Tip: Sea view executive

I stayed at the Grand to set up small conference. The town of Malahide is beautiful, quaint and very friendly. It's walking distance to everything. Train station is close by which takes you to downtown Dublin. A waterview room is great. Hotel has some cozy, comfy places to sit and work on your laptop if you're there for business. Matt's Bar has excellent food and great bartenders. There's a very nice health club next door to the hotel which accommodates guests. Great place and location.

Room Tip: Waterview rooms are great.

Stayed recently for one night in the Grand Hotel. It is in the lovely village of Malahide and is situated just a couple of minutes walk from the village centre in one direction and looks to the sea in the other direction.
The public areas are fine - perhaps faded glory feel to much of the place, although with obviously some money having been spent on the lobby area itself. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful.
The room was where the missing touches were noticed - despite being a 4 star, there was no minibar in the room, no dressing gowns, only the most basic of toiletries, a heated towel rail that wouldn't switch on, a small TV that was quite some distance from the bed, a shower head that came to upper back region due to the low bathroom roof, not that clean with a long hair in the sink. On the plus side, the room was warm, the bed comfortable and the view of the bay excellent. On the whole though a bit disappointing for 4 stars.

Stayed here for a few nights for some client meetings on the business park in Swords and was very pleasantly surprised.
The room (I was upgraded to the exec room) was very nice and a decent size - nice big king size bed
Breakfast each morning was very nice and the gym was functional
Malahide is lovely and very easy indeed to get right into the centre of Dublin on the train (25mins)

Stayed for two nights in October on a get away weekend with my wife, executive room and evening meal deal.
Room was great ,good as any I have stayed in Dublin City, Breakfast is excellent and cannot be faulted.
Evening meal we took on the Saturday night after a days shopping in Dublin (Dart Station 6 mins roughly walk from hotel) was good, not out of this world but good.
Lovely waiter Foreign (aren't they all ) bit hard to understand in a nice way ,made our night because the wife and I had a great laugh trying to make out everything he was saying, but to be fair he probably couldn't make out the Norn Iron accent either LOL.
Nice hotel, nice town and close to Dublin without having to drive into the madness of the City centre.

Room Tip: Executive rooms are bigger in the new wing.

I was booked into the hotel for 3 days, but to my dismay i was put into the older part of the hotel and my room was very dated and very small and cramped. The following morning I asked to be moved to the newer wing but was told I would have to pay another €25.00 for a 'executive room'.(Rate paid €90) I have stayed in many hotels and their executive room is simliar to a normal bedroom in a standard hotel. I checked out immediately.
The food and staff were pleasent and they have a good leisure centre. However I will not be returning to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Make sure you are booked in the New wing.
