“Great local pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Friendly, vibrant "local" - good selection of craft ales, with fish and chips to go with it. It's the most traditional of the Malahide pubs.

“A local institution”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Widely regarded as the best pub in Malahide by locals and tourists, it is not hard to see why.
With a large sprawling interior and a beer garden, plus attached off-license next door there is plenty of room to enjoy a nice pint of Guiness and a pack of Tayto crisps.
It was a gloriously sunny day when we visited, so we sat in the beer garden for lunch. Pretty good fare for pub grub, with the burgers in particular being good, and check out the onion rings too!

“Popular pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We stopped here for lunch as a result of chatting to a local who recommended them as the 'best place to eat in town' and we can't fault his judgement.

It is a large rambling pub with more than one bar and an attached off-licence (where you can buy wine from their large selection & pay corkage to drink if you wish) and a sheltered outside patio area at the rear.

On a sunny afternoon it was very popular and we struggled to find outside seating.

The food we ordered was very good, with ample portions, and there was a choice of good beers. Service was quick and friendly.

It's located within an easy walk of both the castle and the town - highly recommended.

“Pretty poor really-go elsewhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

Low-grade pub food in a bit of a tourist trap. There are many better places to eat and drink locally - I recommend you go elsewhere .

“Great as always”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

This is one of my favourite pubs in Dublin. There's always a good atmosphere, they have a lovely wine list and access to many more wines in the Off Licence next door. And if you're there on a Friday, they have Champagne Fridays which means that you can buy any bottle of sparkling wine in their Off Licence and drink it corkage free in the pub. The food is amazing value for great tasty comfort food. There's lots of little nooks and crannies to sit it and a lovely fire in the front part. I'd highly recommend that everyone takes the DART out to Malahide and pays a visit to Gibneys. Lots of the other pubs in Malahide are more like cafe bars and have none of the atmosphere of Gibneys.
