“Warm wine cold food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Myself and my girlfriend have a Christmas night and we usually go into town but we decided this year we just wanted something quiet and different. Having been in the greedy goose before and really enjoyed it (2 years ago) I booked it. Bit disappointed by the menu it didn't seem like there was anything really standing out like the last time and I felt like I was just picking something because I had to. We ordered our wine ... Which when we tasted it was warm :-/ so we had to get ice .. Not good ...

First round of food came out fried cheese and vol au vonts .... Fried cheese was sitting around too long and the cheese was rubber and the vol au vonts were cold ... Sauce cold and veg cold ... Plate cold ... Also just to point out it was t that busy ....

Feeling this was going to be a running trend I wasn't looking forward to the next two rounds of food ....

Next chicken wrapped in ham and duck parcels ...... Cold ... Cold ... The duck parcels again were sitting around plate was cold and I needed a sledgehammer to cut through the pastry in the end I gave up and ate it with my hands .... Chicken was cold also and sauce was cold .....

Next lamb ( off most expensive menu ) and beef .... Ok so these weren't cold ( about time ) but the hunger and enjoyment had gone off me at this stage so we just ate it ... Presentation was the same on all dishes ... Some purée with random vegetable balls placed randomly on the plate ... I'm sorry to say the nicest thing we had were the chips we ordered as extra ...

I felt full leaving but not satisfied .... Staff nice ... But didn't feel comfortable advising about the cold food as they we convinced the wine was chilled to the appropriate temp ... The bottle was cold but obviously fridge was only stocked that night ....

When choosing a place to book for our Christmas night ... It was between the greedy goose and the scotch bonnet .... I'm sorry I didn't choose the latter :-( and 95 euro worse off !!!

Disapointed

“Tasty tasting Menu!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

A tasting menu is such a lovely way to dine. You have a selection of different menu's to choose from and the choices offer quite a variety. Every course we chose was delicious, the helpings are not too large so you easily get to taste the desserts. Definitely a Restuarant worth a visit!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

The name says it all!!! i'm constantly going to restaurants and wanting a bit of everything
with this restaurant you can. Everything i had was amazing.. to be honest was spoiled for choice, didnt get to dessert as the portions were just right and fell really full. You pay for individual dishes or pick menus.. Cant wait to go back and try more......

“Goose me, please!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

My fiance and I have an apartment in Malahide and went there a month ago for the first time! (Mostly because the place is always packed.) It is a small place and there are a set of stairs (in case you can't do stairs) and a reservation is a MUST. Basically, this place is a must. No matter if you do the €20 menu or a la carte, anything you order is guaranteed to be yummy. Just be aware that these are tasting sized portions. Not "full meal" sized. There is definitely a romantic warm feeling to the place. There is a view of the bay which when it's warmer I suspect is quite breath taking. (We tried to go in August and September without reservations ahahah). The staff is delightful. Like other reviewers DON'T MISS THE PORK BELLY. There can be a bit of noise if there is a large party. If you are a couple ask for a window seat. :)
