“Luxury by the sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

We were welcomed by staff who are always very friendly (we have stayed here numerous times). The room was light and airy and very comfortable. The food was lovely both in the restaurant and the newly refurbished Seaview Lounge. Beautiful views, Cant wait to return!

Enjoyed a 1 night break here to celebrate a special occasion. Was early and they were able to check us in immediately. We ate lunch in the sea view terrace and dinner in the bar downstairs. The room was comfortable with a great view of the golf course and beyond. Easy access to the beach made for a comfortable afternoon walk.

Stayed here for last night in Ireland before departing for airport (15 minutes away) in an executive room - worth the upgrade. Executive rooms in brand new wing (they were still finishing some rooms) and the view of the golf course is very pleasant. Ate at Jameson Pub and food was good. Easy stroll to the enormous beach and this whole area is great for a jog.

The staff was brilliant and very helpful. The music on Saturday night was very good. we love Malahide and will stay in this hotel again. it was a lovely weekend weather wise and this just added to the pleasure of our stay. Train station is very handy to travel into Dublin if ou wish but we would prefer to stay at Portmarnock and malahide. will be back very soon.

Room Tip: Would have liked a room facing the beach. the one we had was lovely/ Just a little too warm.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links and would definately go back again.

On our second visit we were given the same family room as before which overlooked the 1st Tee - couldnt have been happier and made us feel "at home." Lovely large room, clean, modern and stylish. Tea and coffee making facilities.

The only slight critism was when we enquired about a safety deposit box we were informed that there wasnt one and could lodge any valuables with the reception - this arrangment seemed a bit old fashioned for such a modern hotel.

Sampled meals and drinks in both the Jameson and Seaview bar - we could not fault the service or quality of the hot and cold food and drinks. The staff in the Jameson bar were excellent and always made you feel welcome and were a credit to the hotel.

Breakfast was a varied hot and cold buffet - the staff were friendly and the service was good.

Reception staff in particular Robert and Angelika were welcoming and dealt with booking in and checking out proffessionally and promptly.

The communal areas and bedroom were kept immaculate and clean - to the credit of housekeeping staff. All areas furnished to a very high standard.

On our recent visit, I noted more so, that there were children of various ages at the hotel, however it became very apparent that there was little either inside or out to keep them occupied. Fortunately we had come prepared - so boredom wasn't an issue.
Maybe consideration should be given to having family board games / chess etc available...... and / or a small seperate putting practise green - (for children of residents of the hotel only ) outside to encourage the future generation to take up the sport of golfing.

Thank you to all staff at Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links for making our stay comfortable and so special.

Room Tip: Hire a car - as the local taxi companies put an extra euro on the clock for each person travelling b...

We stayed for two nights on a grabone deal. Great hotel, friendly staff, rooms lovely and beside beach. Will definitely be going back. Very handy to railway station and only 15 mins to centre of Dublin. Lovely boutiques in Malahide nearby.
