“I cannot fault these apartments”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2009

we have just returned from a stay in the atlantic apartotel , I was dubious about going here after the reviews I read and even voiced my concerns with the hotel managment. let me say there is absolutley nothing wrong with these apartments , yes they are basic and could do with updating , but they are clean and cosy and contain everything you need in them if you intend cooking which we did, they are right in the centre of bundoran and close to all amenities ( a trip to mr.Ts for fresh cod & chips is a must ), our 12 year old made great friends here and spent hours playing mini golf and pool , these apartments really cater for families of all ages and we spoke to people that have returned here year after year , so that must say something , we really enjoyed our stay here and will have no hesitation about returning again .

My Husband and I arrived at the atlantic apartotel Bundoran with our two young children. We checked out again within 15 mins. The website does not give a true reflection of this throw back from the 1920s. The room was totally inadequate- extremely small and dirty. I do not know how management is getting away with the rates they are charging. Go next door to Summerhill Apartments- lovely apartments, fresh, clean, lots of room and friendly staff.

We went there hoping for good fun for the children; my husband wanted to leave after 1 hour.... The "apartment" was dreadful, it was dirty and very noisy; The kids wanted to go for a swim and they did: ONCE!!!! And these are children that you can usually not keep away from water; I was speechless that this place even got recognition from the Irish tourist board; I wrote to them to complain because I was horrified by the hygiene and the standard of the place;

We felt that the place was so rough (that goes for Bundoran in general) that we were afraid to leave our car in the private car park; Obviously we had no choice, and we did leave it, but that goes to show. And by the way we drive a standard honda not a merc!!

We were on the top floor and at night we were waken up by the shouts of drunk people in the street; It wasn't helped by the fact that the window(s) didn't close;

I could continue the list for a long long time, but one last thing: you have to put MONEY (coins) int he meter to get electricity!!!! I thought that had gone witht he 80s! But that really sum up the place.

I love Donegal and there are a few -hard to find but real- nice restaurants and bars in Bundoran, but the main street and what's in it is dreadful; The beach is lovely though and the walk around it is nice with kids, especially at sunset;

If you pick Co Donegal as a holiday destination, you have made a really good choice: it is a beautiful part of the world; If you pick this hotel you are making a massive mistake;

Staff - somewhat elusive and not particularly friendly or helpful.
Rooms - well worn, basic accomodation.
Location - right on the main street of Bundoran, the weather was so bad when we were there I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing.
Not a bad choice for the price if you have to stay in Bundoran.
Do visit the tourist office in Donegal for the friendliest and most helpful tourist staff anywhere.

We selected this accomodation based on their "suits families" profile for a two nights break in a two bedrooms apartment - we are a family with two young children.
Well, we left right after the first night to try and save the week end by spending a good day back home!!!
It is old, very old, it smells...The lifts are frightening, the doors slam behind you, the furniture and the deco are 30+ years old. The windows look new but when you are in bed you can feel the air coming through. We had to clean every single fork or plate before using it. We caught a cold! You hear the neighbours just like if you were in their room. Even at the third floor you can hear the music of the pub till late at night and the noise in the street.
The swimming pool is incredibly noisy even with just two guys in. I cut my foot on a loosen screw inside the jaccuzzi. The playground for the kids are just good enough - and the same for the amusements.
The only good points are: friendly staff, car park, central location.

Was at the Atlantic for an Easter break. We have stayed there for weekends on and off the past 8 years, as always had a great time. The staff are always friendly and helpful it`s a real home from home. Keep up the good work. Thanks John and staff.

Great location with child friendly facilities. We really appreciated being able to have a drink in the lounge at night whilst the children enjoyed the adjoining games room. The pool was also a bonus!
