I wanted to really love the Ice House and I did really really like it but it didn't quite reach the highest levels. What the Ice House has going for it is the location and physical beauty of the building. I was in a spa room in the newer wing and the room was modern, comfortable and had a magnificent view of the River Moy through the floor to ceiling window. There is a small window that opens which was perfect for letting in the sounds outside. Here we're my problems. I arrived on only my second day in the country and was pretty tired and just wanted to get settled. But they have you sit and wait and drink champagne which could be said to be lovely but was not where my mindset was. There was only one towel in the bathroom (I have long hair and like one for my head and one for my body.). Service in the restaurant and bar was very slow. (Again, they are probably trying to foster a leisurely pace but they also just seemed understaffed as the waitstaff seemed to be busy with catering tasks for a wedding that was coming in.). Finally, the massage I had in the spa was subpar. I booked the spa when I checked in and was told to pick my treatment later. When I showed up I was told that I only had an hour and so my two first picks were too long and unavailable. The massage had no lasting effects and I ended up getting a massage again just two days later at another hotel (which was amazing). The hotel gets 4 stars because of the natural beauty and, had the service been better, would get a 5.
