The road to this beautiful castle meanders slowly through the fabulous Beleek gardens. Be sure to either drive in or out in daylight to fully appreciate the gorgeous scenery. Once you arrive at the castle, you are sure to be greeted by courteous and friendly staff and the warmth of a huge fireplace fueled with coal. If you are lucky, adorable Rocky and Sally, the resident dogs, will come out and meet you, as well.
We were showed to our room, which featured a grand four-poster bed and fabulous view. Generally, guests stay in the upper portion of the castle and enjoy the bar/lounge and dining room on the first floor. These are all fabulous, outfitted using wood from a 17th century ship that was wrecked off of the coast in County Mayo. The effect is a dark, earthy feel that takes a visitor back to simpler times. Our host also gave us a private tour of the lower entertaining rooms and bar in the castle. These are generally used for large parties (e.g. weddings) and are even grander than the upstairs.
There is a rather lengthy review below that describes the dinner at the hotel. We too enjoyed the sword-skewered flaming filet. I have one word to add - priceless! The chef even saved my left-over filet (so much food!) and made tasty sandwiches for our trip the next day. Breakfast was also fabulous. Beleek Castle is fortunate to have such an inspired chef.
Overall, it was a pretty amazing experience. Of all of the places that I booked on our trip, my husband still raves about this one the most!! I highly recommend splurging on a stay in this hotel, but be sure to splurge on dinner also. You will not be disappointed!
