Great memories both as repeat guests and diners over the past 20 years were dashed on a recent lunch time visit. We were the only visitors in the bar/dining area Saturday 22nd Sept and were served the most horrible soups " Vegetable" tasting of nothing but water and " Chowder " again watery and containing dangerous fishbones .Garlic mushrooms were shrivelled reheats and coffees came without milk/spoons/sugar. The disinterested waiter listened to our complaints with a blank stare. Being aware that accommodation was not available due to a fire some time ago we asked when this would be back on stream. Again a blank, disinterested response telling us nothing. No other diners appeared during the time we were there-- maybe the word has already got around about this historic establishment's downfall.
