“Perfect accommodation - great experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2011

Drom Caoin is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast:
I have never experienced such hospitality before! There is a wonderful service, the rooms are great and the food is delicious. Especially the big choice of fruits has to be mentioned.
Mairin and Gerry give so much attention to details (Home baked bread, coffee beans instead of instant-stuff, fresh mushrooms,....) and there is a beautiful open fire.
You do not have to worry about a possibility to park and even wlan can be used without paying extra.
I will be back, definately!

We were a group of cyclists who arrived on a wet and cold day. From the moment we arrived, Maureen was wonderfully hospitable. She dried our cycling clothes, gave us tea and refreshments, even gave us a hot-water-bottle to warm up! A few of our group were camping and the next morning she made a delicious breakfast for everyone - served with a laugh and a smile. She even brought out a selection of brandy and whiskeys - and set up a tasting competition for us.
A truly great Irish bed and breakfast experience!

Gerry made us feel very comfortable in his home A very nice room. Gerry was also very helpful in dropping us in town and picking us up when done and helping us find our next accomodation. His breakfast was great especially serving fresh fruit!

Having now stayed with Mairin and Gerry at Drom Caoin for seven of the last eight summers on my annual golf trip to the west of Ireland (I still regret that one summer I missed, when business got in the way), it really has become my Irish home away from home..... only better. The hospitality shown by Mairin and Gerry is superb; as warm and genuine as can be, it's what every B&B in Ireland and elsewhere should aspire to. Sensational breakfasts, very clean and comfortable rooms, wi-fi access for those who can only stay away from their laptops for so long, and avid golfer Gerry can tell you all about the magnificent Carne golf links. My days become brighter each year when April approaches and I began to finalize the details of my next stay at Drom Caoin.

Located in the rugged west this gem of a family run bed and breakfast has it all! once the door is opened to you you are made feel at home. A welcome in the form of tea, hot scones and brown home made bread served in front of a hot stove is a perfect start to any holiday designed to unwind and relax. The property is spacious and the rooms are en suite and well appointed. It is located on an elevated site overlooking Blacksod Bay and Achill Island. It is 10 mins walk to the town centre where there are restaurants and bars and the proprietors, Mairin and Gerry are happy to provide information on the wide variety of activities available in the area. Golf and sea angling are a speciality and we played golf on the championship links course 2 out of the three days we were there. Golf packages are available. The breakfasts are to die for and its easy to see why a national award for cooking breakfasts hangs in the dining room along with awards for the preparation of the perfect cup of coffee (freshly ground) and in wine tasting. We slept till 11.45 on three mornings, a first for us such was the peace and quiet and comfort in the rooms, however we were never too late for breakfast. There are beaches available within minutes, golf, fishing, many walks, bird watching, heritage and sculpture trails and many more activities including windsurfing, sailing and island tours. well worth a visit.

Ideal area for walking and very scenic with endless sights to tour around to see. The B&B is first class and Mairin and Gerry are perfect hosts providing us with lovely food and a real friendly place to stay, also giving us plenty of information on the area, places of interest to visit and see. Would thoroughly recommend it.

Western Ireland is beautiful and the golf is out of this world. Our stay in Belmullet was the highlight of our trip. Mairin treated us like family. She knows the area and the people well. She did so much more than we could have expected. She was able to put us in touch with just the right people to help us with our family research.
