“Over the top!”

Coill An Rois

On a farmhouse bed and breakfast trip through Ireland, our best find was this wonderful B&B, the Coill an Rois. Following our directions, and worrying we had totally missed it, there was the distinctive pink house across the road. Jimmy Bruic, our wonderful host, and his charming hospitality are not to be missed. We were greeted with a warm welcome, the offer of a beverage and fresh from the oven snacks. After some chat, we were sent off to a very good local restaurant for dinner, but only after Jimmy called ahead to confer about the menu offerings for one of our party who is Vegan, and to make our reservation .

The rooms, with bathrooms en suite, were bright, clean and comfortable. There is a jacuzzi for the guests, too.

The breakfast choices were extensive. The food was delicious, plentiful, and filling. Don't say no to the scones! The cheerful, relaxed atmosphere made this a restful, warm, and fun place to be. It was readily apparent in the other guests as well.
On our second day, we were sent off with maps, directions and a reasonable time frame to begin touring the Dingle Penninsula. (Be sure to really listen to directions because we found the roads and attractions to have very few signs.)
I hope to return soon to Ireland, and would gladly spend an entire week at Jimmy Bruic's Coill an Rois next time.

“Amazing Experience”

Ireland: Coill An Rois-Dingle: Amazing experience
June 28-29, 2007
First time traveler to Ireland

This review is difficult to write, because I don't know that words can do justice to the experience we had.
Coill An Rois participates in the Irish Farmhouse Holidays. It is located in countryside near Dingle but the owner, Jimmy Bruic, had the foresite to paint it alovely rose color that makes it easily recognizable. Coill An Rois was built specifically to accommodate the increased tourist traffic throughout Ireland. The rooms are clean and comfortable. All rooms have individual bathrooms, some with steam showers.
The accommodations alone would bring you back, but wait till you meet the owner.
Greeted with a pot of coffee and some amazing homemade cookies it soon came to light that our host is a former pastry chef. Jimmy made us dinner reservations for a wonderful nearby restaurant that would rival any four star dining in a large city. Upon return from dinner we were included in a birthday celebration for a neighbor-friend. The evening was a wonderful exchange of ideas and information that gave us access to the Irish culture we would never have found in books.
Let's talk about breakfast. Jimmy provided an amazing breakfast including a fruit plate and specially prepared scones for a member of our party that is vegan. A man that cooks, if thats not enough to make you want to marry him or adopt him just spent a few minutes talking with him.
He provided maps and advise on the important sites in the area.
Dingle provides some of the most amazing views in Ireland, but for my money one of the best reasons to visit Dingle is a stay at Coill An Rois.
Coill An Rois-Wonderful acommodations provided by a gracious and charming host.

We spent 1 night at Coill An Rois and found it to be a wonderful experience. The property, although a bit remote, was pristine and homey. It was beautifully furnished, very comfortable, with roses abounding everywhere, inside and out! It was great to wake up smelling the country air and being able to look out the window and see a horse, chicken, sheep and a very friendly, well behaved dog.
We awoke to the delicious smell of chocolate, and got to sample our host's culinary expertise at a full Irish breakfast. The choclate aroma came from just baked chocolate muffins, yummy and sinfully delicious! These, however, paled next to wonderfully textured home baked scones, and chewy crumbly home baked brown bread. How I wish I had his recipes! The eggs served were fresh from the hen house, and everything was fresh and fantastic.
Even more wonderful than the surroundings and the food was our host, Jimmy Bruic. His hospitality was unique. Witty and intelligent, he told great stories with a twinkle in his eye. He spoke of his family with love and pride. At breakfast, he cooked and served in his chef's black and whites. Most of all, when we arrived, we were tired and frustrated, unable to navigate the peninsula hardly at all, and Jimmy sat with us patiently and helped us map out a better route even lending us his maps so that we would be able to find the attractions. He truly made out visit to the Dingle peninsula a success.
