our experience at the Castlewood was so delightful that we rearranged our schedule to stay another night. The proprieter, Bryan, is a true Renaissance man and provides exemplary service checking us in, carrying our bags, giving us very spot on suggestions for food and music, arranging tours, cooking, and even got up really really early to get us breakfast and drive us to the busstop--all the while being professional, accessible and down to earth. The rooms are clean, quiet, and with beautiful details such as bottled water on Irish lace doilies, crisp bedding, soft big towels on a towel warmer, jacuzzi tub with plenty of hot water. Breakfast is fresh from fruit, scones, homemade yogurt, to salmon and eggs or full Irish hot breakfast served with flare in a dining room overlooking Dingle Bay. The hotel is in town about 8 minute walk to heart of downtown which was no problem. Room was very reasonably priced too. You need to contact castlewood directly by email or Ireland.com for availability as they are not listed by common US websites like expedia but reply was within 12 hours. Dingle pennisula and its people made the trip to Ireland for us but It was the Castlewood and Bryan that really helped us find and explore all the offerings as first time visitors provding a wonderful "home" base and service. TIP: Took a private tour with Dennis around the Pennisula and it was great--he really knows the history, legends and the people of this area and the stories he shares will stay with you a longtime after your trip!
