On the advice of our innkeepers we got to pub early, around 8:30PM, and we were glad we did. We were fortunate to get a seat, no always easy to do when the music has already started, and a seat no less right next to be band. The music was great, rivaling the best of our 2 week trip, and the local Crean's brew was a nice break from the nationally distributed beers we had been enjoying. Of course, between the music, the pints, several talkative locals, and a very impressive young couple from America, the craic flowed thick and rich as a Murphy's Stout (..a foamy rich elixir we often substituted for desert.)
As someone over sixty, I just want to express my pleasure at meeting several great young Americans abroad, likely in their late twenties or early thirties, who I found exceedingly bright, respectful of foreign culture, never arrogant, and always eager to learn whatever the could. It gives me hope for the future.
