Devane's is located uphill from the waterfront. My husband and I had taken BusEiranne to Dingle and were able to easily find it on foot (as soon as we understood that Main Street turns into Goat Street, Devane's address!). Since we "hoofed it" everywhere, we got lots of exercise going up and down the streets.
Geraldine was our hostess and gave us all the information we needed to get started on our two-day stay. Our comfortable ensuite room was spacious and also overlooked the water. The delicious breakfasts were served in a lovely room larger than most of the dining areas in other bed and breakfasts we had visited.
Geraldine made us feel very special especially when she introduced her sons to us (though they may have thought differently)! She gave us a glimpse of what was going on in the town about schools, for instance, and she is someone who obviously enjoys her business.
Devane's is not right on the beaten path, so I imagine in the summer it might be a bit quieter than lodging nearer the water and town center.
She told us about an organized tour, with Tim Collins, of the Dingle Peninsula, which we booked. It was fantastic. I can't imagine driving the Peninsula the first time and getting all the tremendous history and archaeological information he offered. Also, there were times on the drive when the van we were in literally touched the fuschia bushes on both sides of the road, which shows how narrow the road is in places.
If we're fortunate enough to go back to Dingle, we will definitely stay at Devane's.
