“Wonderful Family Holiday in August.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

Thank you to all at the Dingle Skellig Hotel for what will hopefully be the first of many stays there. We travelled with our 6 year old - who thought he had arrived in heaven. The kids club was brilliant - and whilst we didn't use it all the time -when we did - our son really enjoyed it. Trips to Ocean World, punch and july show, disco etc - it was a super way to ensure he socialised with lots of smallies during our stay. Our room was a simple double room - and I would probably recommend getting an upgrade to a suite if that were possible. The room was nice but we are used to a wider bed. We didn't spend that much time in the room - so not a problem. Breakfast fab - dinner in the restaurant was just lovely, dinner in the bar was also of a very high standard and the waiting staff couldn't have been more helpful. The ladies on the team in particular stood out. Mary Mc really made my sons day - when she gave him a little treat on the last day. He said she was magic. She was also very attentive to all guests and really made them feel welcome in the restaurant. I would have a tip for the Bar staff - there seemed to be an awful lot of them - wandering around and maybe not being as useful to the business as they could be. We found it hard to order a drink sometimes - and that is money in the bank in this business. A little more customer facing time from the men on the bar team. Again - the girls were flying around - giving it loads, smiling, taking orders and generally making us all feel very comfortable. Dingle skellig - we will be back. The town of Dingle is absolutely fabulous - so much going on - and lots of people about. We did get to see Fungi, we climbed walls, went to the Seal Sanctuary, visited Paidai O' Sheas, Trip into Tralee to the Aqua Dome, Dingle Races and of course the fun fair. We had a blast. thank you Mary.

Room Tip: Get an upgrade. 3rd Floor has the suites. There are a choice of Sea Views and Farm Views and to b...

We have just returned from a 5 day stay with the family. Our 'family room' was a double room with a single bed and cot 'shoe horned' in with views of the car park. The hotel in my option was to busy with coach loads of tourists for that personal experience that we have come to expect in Ireland. On Thursday Morning I waited 10mins to speak to someone on reception, when I got to speak to one lady she couldn't speak 'very good English' so I had to wait to speak to the other receptionist.
My son tried to order pancakes from the breakfast menu every morning to be told 'no pancakes today' - Why put on the menu? The morning of our departure we had ordered continental breakfast for 6.30am, No Breakfast had arrived by 7am, then no staff available on reception to speak to or check out with.
We had a really good time in Dingle Bay despite our high expectation of the hotel, the location was truly breath taking, but the hotel No Better Than A Premier Lodge With A Pool.

Room Tip: Room 126 very noisy as next to stairs and corridors and overlooks car park.

l stayed in this wonderful hotel with my colleagues and I have to say it was a great experience. It started with a warm greeting from a very efficient, helpful and friendly receptionist Karen who made us feel welcome and at home immediately. The room was spotless and the view from the it was spectacular. Our meal was great; tasty, well presented and served by efficient and courteous waiting staff. The bar staff and in particular a young man Damien, was so polite and accommodating. The experience was great and we will definitely be back. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants the best any hotel can offer.

On arriving in Dingle, the Skellig looks like an army camp, and my first reaction was "Big Mistake" .

This did not improve with our first encounter with an automaton receptionist

However, once getting booked in, we had a great room with a brilliant views across the bay

The service for dinner was faultless, as was the quality of the food, and also the breakfast, hence the 4* rating.

But please train your receptionists to be more welcoming to guests on arrival!

Room Tip: Any room overlooking the harbour

Not long back from a 7 night stay in the Dingle Skellig hotel and as in previous visits were were excellently taken care of at all times. The sea view we had never ceases to amaze while the food both in the Bar and the Restaurant was top class. We cannot thank Graham and his staff enough for looking after all our needs and we look forward to visiting again. With so many activities both in the hotel and in and around the Dingle Peninsula it is definitely the perfect location for a holiday.

Room Tip: A room with a sea view is well worth looking for

This hotel is one of our favorites in Dingle! We have stayed there numerous times and it never disappoints. Our view of Dingle Bay was just beautiful! There is also a nice, shallow pool for those traveling with toddlers. We cannot recommend this place enough!

Room Tip: Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra for a room with a view of the ocean!
