“A must do for any visitor to the Dingle Peninsular”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

What a great way to kill a few hours and get away from the hustle and bustle of Dingle....A relaxed informative Eco tour of the Basket Islands and Dingle /Slea Head coastline. if you love wildlife then you cannot go wrong......Cormorants, seals, and a whole school of dolphins surfing in the wake of the boat just to mention a few. Really couldn't recommend this enough.....well worth the money !

“A great trip even with rain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012 via mobile

Even on a misty, cloudy day we had a fabulous trip aboard the Lady Breda. The young man who narrated was a bottomless pit of history, geography, language, culture and lore. We marveled at what looked like seemingly suicidal sheep, red deer, puffins, famous "Fungie" the dolphin, seals, and cruised alongside a massive school of wild common dolphins - a rare sight, we learned. We brought a picnic lunch, and we're able to stay dry inside the cabin when needed. Dress warm, with layers, and a raincoat of course!

“Best day of holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

Did the eco trip on the Lady Breda with my husband & 3 boys last wed 11 July..It was amazing!! Scenery was just beautiful and the kids loved seeing all the birds, seals & fungi (dolphin). The guide was excellent & my eldest boy loved listening to the history of the islands. Great memories to have from our family holiday..money well spent :)

Used Dingle Bay Charters on a recent stag trip. Great craic, good value, nice professional people and overall a very positive experience. Nice way to see the bay and the fishing was surprisingly easy.

“Memorable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2012

We had a rest day in Dingle while walking the Dingle Way and took the 11.00 am Eco tour from the Marina to the Blasket Islands. I'm not *entirely* sure that all the comments here are for the same tour, but we certainly enjoyed the day on the boat which was called (I think) the Lady Breda. The scenery was spectacular. The boat dropped off a number of people who were planning to spend the day on Great Blasket, but we stayed on board for the 'eco' tour, which took us around the north of Great Blasket and meant that we had a great view of Cathedral rocks and some of the other islands. The islands themselves are eerie - you almost expect to see mermaids on the rocks - but fascinating, and we saw lots of seals, puffins and other birds.

Our guide, Bernie, was genial and obviously extremely knowledgeable. He talked about everything from Henry VIII and the treaty of Dingle to basking sharks, volcanoes, the formation of the landscape, feeding habits of sea birds, biology, geology, evolution, history ... Sadly, it was very hard to grasp more than a word or two when the boat was moving! Bernie talked on regardless of the fact that clearly no one could hear what he was saying! Frustrating, as I would have liked to have known more about what we were looking at, but as it was, we were only able to hear fragments. A better microphone would transform the experience!

That aside, I would definitely recommend a trip to the Blaskets. The boat was covered but open, and I was glad of a warm jacket and extra gilet layer. We were pleased we opted to stay on board rather than spend the day on Great Blasket, although on a warmer day that is probably a lovely thing to do. Those who stayed had to wait for another boat to pick them up at 3.30, by which time we were happy to be ensconsed in a cosy restaurant. All in all it was a memorable trip to a remote and beautiful place, with a very pleasant skipper and crew.
